I suppose I should probably throw my hat in the ring, but I will admit I have absolutely no mod experience. I’ve found it pretty easy to be active in this community and have been interested in putting together some weekly stickied threads (e.g. freetalk friday, mentalhealth monday, etc).

Would anyone else be interested in a Beehaw-specific menslib community or similar space?

One of my most active subs on Reddit was /r/MensLib, an open, pro-feminist, trans-inclusive space for people to discuss men’s issues without toxicity and without anger or violence directed at women or men. It was a (mostly) wonderful community that fostered lots of genuine, heartfelt discussion, and it would seem to me that...

That actually means a huge amount to me. Apologies if I came off a little hostile with the stan comment.

Patriarchy theory is not valid theory of men’s struggles

“Patriarchy” is a floating signifier. It has no clear meaning. Indeed, it means whatever is convenient for it to mean in any given context. “Patriarchy” is furthermore a thought-terminating cliche. Instead of carefully thought out social analysis the Patriarchy is deployed as a non-explanation....

Don’t forget to report. I don’t think the moderators watch super closely since this is still a super small community.

I thought that too originally but then I saw activity in the modlog. Any idea why those moderators aren’t listed in the sidebar?

Everybody has their own journey but I will say the latter is far more common.

It’s important to recognize that the history of stoicism (because it is so old) has been integral in shaping masculine culture in the west. For so many people stoicism is felt more through it’s cultural influences than through the modern additions to the philosophy. I’ve posted this elsewhere but this video gives a brief history of stoicism and talks specifically about how this philosophy affected marginalized groups in the past and how that might explain why stoicism is still popular primarily among men. While doing so they try to make the case that modern stoicism is incredibly useful and attempts to draw a direct connection to modern CBT.

If that’s not a tipping point then I seriously have no idea what’s coming.

My assumption is that this is civil war related but can anybody speak to it’s origins?
