Unbelievable case of US defaultism, with some serious rose tinting and selective memory - childhood of 95 % of kids around the globe didn't look remotely close to this.

I do realize it was not the intent of the prompt BUT that's exactly my point. Shows you what the AI is trained on and what biases are in play when shaping our world view.

Bluesky is going to skyrocket to mainstream popularity and actually replace Twitter, and Mastodon cannot, because Bluesky is being designed to be simple, fun, and — most importantly — easy to understand.

@thoralf @gruber agree, but what this means is segregation: us nerds on Mastodon, everyone else on either BS or Twitter. Not good.

So I’m about to edit my first narrative short film in a looooong time. Also acting as my own AE so, yeah. We’ll be using FCPX.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve cut countless commercial spots over the years but been a while since trying something like this.

3 cameras (Alexa Mini, Sony FX3, and a RED Komodo) though the Alexa is out A Cam. Also will have some VFX work.

Hopefully jam sync timecode 🤞🏻

Excited, but nervous 😉

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

@adamschoales if your audio files are name SHOT#-TAKE#.ext or something, use that as the first part of the synced clip/multicam clip name (you can set this up in Sync&Link which is unbeatable for dual system and multicam sync). That way you can very quickly filter/find your shots. I also set up smart collections filtered by text (usually, one Smart Collection per scene).

@adamschoales I also like to Reject the parts before slate (or, Action!) so all I see is clean takes

Do you remember the endless wait for Portishead's third album that took so long it was thought to be vaporware?

It came out fifteen years ago.

Oh boy, I've reached a point where I don't know how to do simple things with my devices.

How do I install an app into my daughter's age-restricted iPad? I have absolutely no idea. It doesn't let me, and it doesn't ask me for "administrator" login.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

I have ultimately used Apple Configurator but SURELY that's not the intended way, is it?

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

OK so no, it doesn't work :) Apple Configurator says the app is installed, but it's not actually available on the device 😂

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

Apparently using an app that I bought from my Apple ID on my kid's device is impossible. As soon as Screen Time is enabled, the app disappears. I haven't found a way to use it.

Came up twice today, but folks seem to have the impression that food geeks are picky and impossible to please. My experience is exactly the opposite. We love ALL KINDS of foods, so you can take us pretty much anywhere. We'll always find something we like. It's non-food folks who will only be happy eating a few things. I'm the pro critic, and I'm the easiest in my family to please. My list of favorites in Phoenix (yes, I keep a list) includes 204 restaurants. Not hard to find something I like.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

@darmato same with movie critics. The good ones love all kinds of different movies, "good" AND "bad"

I have put off updating my old home Synology DS216j to DSM7 and finally caved in but holy shit it really IS faster. This is very rare but it does happen - I remember back in 2015 my 5k iMac was total trash with jerky GUI all over the place and High Sierra fixed all that. And my gaming PC ran much smoother with Win 10 than with 7.

Very annoying UI bug with Spaces and Chromium-based browsers in Ventura. Upon switching to their Space, there's the window border overlaid where it shouldn't.

Anyone else?

    Super bizarre bug that meant QC failure.

    Duplicate frames every second. But why? Both source and project are 25 fps (EU) and speed is at 100%. All clips synced with Sync-n-Link, all 100% the same way, yet this happened only in this one scene.

    Never seen anything like this.

    stooovie,
    @stooovie@mas.to avatar

    @gurftastic no, the footage file is fine. When I edit it, it's 100% fine. When it is a part of a MC clip created by Sync&Link, it's like a 24 source in 25 project, even when everything is set correctly and no other footage does this. I'll send it to the Intelligent Assistance guys for analysis.
