takeda,

Just Chrome in this instance, as it spies for Google. Any anti ad blocking features go though to all chromium based browsers and it is better to switch Firefox. If that browser disappears we won’t have a good alternative anymore.

takeda,

The kopromat name implies being Russian, so it is safe to say that no they do not.

Nethanyahu is a fascist and has (or at least had) warm relations with Russia. This is why Israel refused to provide any meaningful help to Ukraine.

Biden Threatens to Veto Bill That Would Help Israel but Not Ukraine (www.nytimes.com)

President Biden vowed on Monday to veto a House Republican bill that would provide $17.6 billion in aid to Israel, calling it a “cynical political maneuver” intended to hurt the chances of passage for broader legislation that would provide money for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and the U.S. border....

takeda,

Yeah, migrants just love to surge come election time.

What a bullshit.

takeda,

trump said that he can end the war in 24 hours. The only way to stop it in such a short time is to force Ukraine to surrender and hand it over to Russia.

takeda,

I think it is changing. A few decades ago women wearing pants also weren’t acceptable.

Though I think there is a loophole. If you would put on a Scottish Kilt you probably would be ok.

takeda,

He will use everything he’s got to affect the election. It will be worse than 2016. Not just promoting trump, but discrediting Democrats and promoting 3rd party candidates that could steal some Democrats’ votes.

takeda,

DoJ wants to appear that it isn’t working for the president, like it was with the previous guy, and they absolutely can be influenced to maintain that image.

  • The Federal prosecutor (David Weiss) in the case was not replaced, and is the same appointed by trump, because Biden didn’t want to make it look like he is helping his son (usually they change with Presidents)
  • initially Hunter got a plea deal by the same, but due to outrage that was rejected
  • then a special counsel (again the same prosecutor) was appointed (which have him more powers) and he got an indictment

This is unusual, as it never goes that far because of unpaid taxes. You just get a large fines, and apparently he already paid off everything.

I normally would be ok with this as, he committed a crime and he should be treated the same as anyone else, but can’t help but notice that looks like he is treated worse to show the office is impartial.

My fear is that if judge clears him of any wrongdoing there still will be an outrage.

takeda,

The moment he proposed it, but was not interested in implementing it and let others use that idea, was a clear sign that he himself didn’t believe in it.

takeda,

I understand that, but the First Past The Post voting method doesn’t allow more than two parties. The third party doesn’t act anything but a spoiler, it is impossible for it to ever win and your vote for a 3rd party is essentially the same as not voting at all. This is how disinformation is used to persuade people who don’t want trump to not vote or essentially throw away your vote in protest.

I’ve been fooled this way in 2016 and don’t want others to make the same mistake.

We should push on local levels to adopt RCV (Ranked Choice Voting) to allow voting for candidates that closet matches our goals without worrying about spoiler effect and someone who we really don’t want winning.

Also a lot of how our delivery degraded was thanks to SCOTUS. Conservative judges ruled that money is free speech and sending money to politicians should not be restricted.

Second big hit was destroying voting rights act making out harder for unrepresented minorities to vote.

And guess what, during trump presidency he appointed 3 conservative judges and now it is 6-3 (conservative vs progressive) this is why Roe vs Wade was repealed and other shenanigans.

Those judges are appointed for life (so those 3 will affect us for decades) and there are another 2 judges that are at age that could be replaced.

takeda,

The SCOTUS issue is real, but even if we ignore it, trump is openly pro Israel. His 2017-2020 record shows that too. I can’t comprehend how someone would think it could be possibly better with trump for Palestinians. I’m convinced that if he was in charge he would actually send US soldiers to fight with IDF in Gaza. He nearly started war with Iran, because (his words), Nethanyahu told him to.

takeda,

Zionism is a movement that believes Israel should exist. I would imagine the majority of Americans support that too even if they might be against the current operation in Gaza.

takeda,

So we have:

  • if he did something, special counsel would find something
  • if he did something, he would be impeached
  • if he did something, he would be charged with a crime
  • if he did something, he would be tried
  • if he did something, he would be convicted
  • well, those things happened, but it is a banana republic

Keep in mind that there are 3 more trials left. Also that Cohen already spent 3 years in jail for helping Trump commit this exact crime.

What is more likely? That almost entire world (including 12 jurors that were vetted by his defense) set against him and decided to lie and cheat to get an innocent man convicted, or that he maybe it is just him who lies and cheats?

takeda, (edited )

That’s why we have a trial by jury of peers.

An executive branch can issue a pardon, legislative branch can create a law making the crime no longer being a crime and impeach judges.

If those things are not enough, then we have a much more serious problem.

Trump supporters try to doxx jurors and post violent threats after his conviction (t.co)

“We need to identify each juror. Then make them miserable. Maybe even suicidal,” wrote another user on the same forum. “1,000,000 men (armed) need to go to washington and hang everyone. That’s the only solution,” wrote another user. “This s— is out of control.”...

takeda,

Can I remind you that trump declared he is running again after federal investigation started? This is why special counsel was appointed.

This particular case actually started when trump was still president. Cohen is a convicted felon that already served 3 years, because he helped trump commit this exact crime. Trump wasn’t indicted back then only because he was president at the time.

takeda,

No, that won’t do any rehabilitation. It needs to be jailed or maybe cleaning the highway.

takeda,

It’s not like she is already against prosecution. I don’t believe it could be any more partisan than it already is.

As for delay her last ruling essentially made it indefinite.

takeda,

The business records fraud case (“hush money” is misleading what it was) is just the first case that nothing blocked it from proceeding.

Documents case is blocked by Canon, J6 is blocked by SCOTUS, I guess the Georgia case could proceed too, but was maybe more complicated than this one.

takeda,

Well, as you see, they prefer doing the terrorist things.

takeda,

Not very well thought of, you need that person to merge in first before you can see it.

takeda,

Trump just confused things (Hailey, Pelosi, Biden, Obama etc). What he means is that he will ban European cars built in Mexico, but allow Tesla produced in China.

I’m half serious, because that’s much more consistent with his policies in 2017-2020

takeda,

What’s with that?

I recently read an article that he is allowing to install China’s face tracking cameras in Hungary. I first thought that he was installing it for his own benefit and just got the technology from China, but this actually will be used by China.

While I might grasp his unexplained love for putin, this looks like just selling your country to foreign autocracies.

takeda,

As you said, this would require an additional action.

And to me it looks like it can’t be done by EO and would have to be a legislation. And during trump very few legislations got passed even when they had a majority.

The restrictions on sale through Mexico can be implemented when it actually is a problem.

I found an article where they announced a factory in Mexico, but it first have to be built. The news also appears to be before the sanctions were announced. So if that factory was meant for US market this could change their plans, as adding 100% sanctions signals determination to plugin other loopholes.

takeda,

Put him in jail, that’s basically what the judge ruled.

takeda,

Progressive participants split on whether they will support US president against Trump in November election due to his support for Israel in war against Hamas

This is pathetic. It shows how deeply out of touch they are with what’s going on in the world if they think trump will be better for Palestine.

takeda,

In this instance this is actually how appeals work.

The article tries to mislead people, but in reality it means Caroll won’t get money until he exhausts all appeals. He still needs to deposit that money to the court.

Yes, they try to justify the title by saying later that he can get a loan (bond) for that deposit and that way avoid paying it, but that’s always an option if somebody else is willing to risk their money for him.
