tempest,

For example what is it about Palestine that is driving the current set of protests that the last 5 years in Ethiopia lacked?

In this case I would assume it’s the fact that many western nations are involved with Israel in some way.

tempest,

Be gone heretic, we must follow the old ways.

Luxury needs some heavy sneer quotes. They are all made of low quality materials and then they put a stainless steel fridge in there and some quartz counters and call it luxury.

Steam HW survey: Mac are 1.35%, Linux 1.90%... but is the industry reacting to this? (store.steampowered.com)

The PC gaming industry (AAA and such) seems more sensible the economy of money around the Apple Platform, for sure. But we’re talking about iOS gaming… not exactly what keep the industry busy with complex technologies like RayTracing, cutting edge PBR textures and gigallion of cinematic rendered Quadruple-A art assets....

tempest,

That used to be the case but I wonder if it still is.

Modern software is loaded down with telemetry and crash reporting. So the software itself is likely doing the reporting at this point.

Linux definitely has more weird permutations with regards to software and hardware and would expect it to produce more issues just based on that.

tempest,

My experience is a little different.

You bring in consultants to gin up some reasons to do what you already wanted to do. The consultants are an important part of coving your ass if things don’t work out as they make a nice scapegoat.

tempest,

It would make me laugh so hard if the thing subtly tried to sell you crypto in its answers

tempest,

It did? Maybe it’s been a while and I don’t remember but it seemed fine at the time.

tempest,

Fair enough. Pretty sure I skipped that episode because I just didn’t really care to hear Richards try and rehab his image.

tempest,

When Americans say Canadian bacon do they mean actual pea meal bacon or ham?

tempest,

It’s the art of the deal, not the art of the bid

tempest,

It isn’t so much that they lost their way it’s just that the PC OS market has flat lined (if it isn’t already trending down)

A public company is incentivized to increase profit (the stock must rise) which means that everyone working there must seek growth.

They never left the way, it’s just the way used to be selling license keys and now it’s selling users.

tempest,

They like it because it’s an easy product differentiation. If they removed that option they would need to bump up every level so the top end would need to get better.

tempest,

I would be perfectly content if it was just a content update.

tempest,

I’m surprised there is any ship breaking here at all given the atrocious conditions and lack of regulations in ship breaking in South East Asia.

tempest,

The word cancelled has lost all meaning.

Kagi pays Google for API access. They also query other sources of data as well as their own index.

Given the fact that other book stores have been going under left right and center for a decade I would expect that the niknak section is one of the few things keeping them a float.

Hard to compete with Amazon when you have to pay for retail locations and staff and still sell at the same price.

tempest,

I understand it’s not for everyone but I jumped ship to Linux 10 years ago or so. The defining moment was me disabling Cortana only to have her reappear after an update.

At least with Linux when I’m fighting the OS it doesn’t feel like the OS developers are fighting back.

tempest,

Funny you say that ah

For real though I use a down stream arch distro.

Installing arch manually is a good learning experience but I’ve got other things to do.

tempest,

The idea is good I think but the implementation has only ever caused me problems and seems to have a bunch of frustrating edge cases.

tempest,

I go there to buy Nintendo games because I don’t trust Nintendo not to do weird crap with their digital goods.

tempest,

You can get a seat belt cutter with a ceramic tip for pretty cheap too

tempest,

He is probably just jealous of Larry Ellison
