timbuck2themoon,

Stealing IP has always been, and will remain, illegal though. Non competes in general were always solely for businesses and detrimental to workers.

timbuck2themoon,

What’s a real shame is we’re not doing anything about it simply because young men are people.

Feminism didn’t arrive because women were “a source of trouble” or anything. It’s because women deserve a life of freedom of choice, independence, and inclusion in society.

Why aren’t we striving to provide young boys and men with the same sense of purpose and ideal? Shouldn’t be borne out of a sense that they’ll be a problem later but rather because it’s just right.

timbuck2themoon,

It’s only made worse that they are now so tied to whatever versioning they’re using instead of semver.

timbuck2themoon,

What about apartments where they are in a dense environment? That’d be a complete waste. Should be a locale law at most.

We should be incentivizing more than just ev cars- like maybe less cars in general.

timbuck2themoon,

Apparently dendrite is just on maintenance due to insufficient funds. It was what i set up on a test instance because it is lighter, etc. Go figure.

timbuck2themoon,

Yeah I’ve been following that. It seemed at the time the project didn’t implement nearly all the specs as dendrite which was still lagging synapse.

Might take another look though. I really did want to use it since it was written in rust. Seemed it should probably be more performant, everything else being equal.

timbuck2themoon,

jellyfin.org/docs/general/networking/nginx/

Just use nginx as a reverse proxy. Note- this assumes you have a domain name or can at least use duckdns or similar and open ports at the edge of your network.

timbuck2themoon,

I’ve never worked with it but have heard great things.

I didn’t know if it handled whatever fancy stuff jellyfin had on the nginx reverse proxy page but if it does, this certainly eases the path to external access.

timbuck2themoon,

Im really just waiting on a viable Linux phone with waydroid. All their new changes are changes for change sake if you ask me.

timbuck2themoon,

I already run Calyx so that part is fine enough but the fairphone stupidly removed their headphone jack so that’s why it’s not on my list for a replacement anytime soon.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

timbuck2themoon,

I could plug into any headphones or stereo without a dongle, they never have to be charged, and I’m never forced to choose whether to listen to music or charge the phone itself.

BT is fine. But there’s zero good reason to omit the jack. All the companies just followed apples lead so they could make money on BT headphones. That’s it.

timbuck2themoon,

I put the wire down my shirt or coat. Doesn’t get in the way at all.

Never have to charge- that is so important to me because I definitely don’t want anything else to have to charge. I hate smartwatches for the same reason (and because I don’t like wearing watches.)

And lastly, port doesn’t have to be omitted. Xiamoi or whoever had a razor thin phone with a jack- no issues with space. Also, companies had IP68 or whatever ratings with headphone jacks before.

You’re not gonna convince us. We know what we like and we know there is zero reason that the jack can’t be put in. It wouldn’t preclude people like yourself from using BT all the same but would afford us a simple time-worn and battle tested way of listening to music the way we like that clearly has upsides to only having BT available.

timbuck2themoon,

Oh OK. Another person who has it all figured out. Sorry i wasted my time. Have a good day.

timbuck2themoon,

Guess this makes sense. That corner on 7th and Race is half hotels now too.

timbuck2themoon,

Greece has actually had a remarkable turnaround. Nothing like it had been five or so years ago.

timbuck2themoon,

Iirc you can export everything. Most allow export of passwords of course but i think proton allows export of passkeys too.

So there’s portability if they ever do disintegrate.

timbuck2themoon,

I don’t think they’re supported in mobile till the big app update iirc. On bw that is.

How does the day-to-day work of not wearing shoes in the house?

I have been reading a lot lately about not wearing outside shoes in the house and it interests me even more because I’ve been saving to re-carpet my whole house. It hits me every now and then about how to do things though, like, say I’m cooking all day on Sunday then need to take the trash out. I’m assuming it’s change...

timbuck2themoon,

What really kills me is people who don’t do this seem to get ANGRY that some do. Like, it’s not your house, what do you care?

timbuck2themoon,

This is at least hilarious to me.

I just don’t get people downvoting. It’s odd. Maybe it’s odd I put them on but I just like being prepared to go do whatever. I might take the trash out, might go for a walk or go to the store, might sit on the deck, etc. Makes it easy to just have them on already.

timbuck2themoon,

I think it might be more difficult for you to grasp it’s not really nice to call someone doing something other than you an “animal” or a “monster.”

Good lord- it’s shoes man. Relax.

timbuck2themoon,

Yep. And quite frankly, I don’t understand the hostility. I take my shoes off if they’re clearly dirty (ie. mud, water, etc.) but normal just walking on sidewalk? Why?

Maybe there is some kind of very trace amount of dirt on there but what difference does it make to my floors? I wear shoes in the house too so if they are dirty, oh well. I guess if you had one person going barefoot and one wearing shoes, maybe that is why you find it odd?

I also think a lot of people here are very afraid of any dirt. I vacuum weekly and mop biweekly and it seems fine (mostly hardwood here.)

Like why would my floors need to be spotless? Do people just find it “icky” or what? I have to think there is like a next to zero chance you contract any kind of sickness by just wearing shoes inside your house and “bringing in dirt” so

timbuck2themoon,

I don’t understand this question. Are there people who wear their filthy, disgusting shoes around their nice, clean house? What animals and monsters do this?

Talk about lack of reading comprehension.

Blocked. No use talking to someone like this.
