You may recall last month’s hilarious story of lawyer Mike Dunforth’s response to a vexatious angry demand letter from IMG, representing the LAPD Foundation, claiming that a t-shirt with the following “Fuck the LAPD” logo violated its IP rights:
While you’re not wrong, I think it’s still important to give the guy respect for telling people a way to make an effective statement for something they wanted.
He absolutely risked his job but he did it to help the community, that earns my respect for sure.
As my workplace has a busy week all this week, I fear the inevitable flood of ableism my co-workers are gonna put me through. Too often they've scolded me for my ADHD symptoms like being out of my desk to walk around, staring off into space, not focusing, or fidgeting with stuff. And their responses have been terrible; they've ranged from stuff like barring my exit, telling me to "focus", threatening to cut my pay or fire me, etc. And since I have autism, I end up being so overwhelmed that I go into a crying fit or meltdown, and they always threaten to remove me because I'm "being disruptive". Perhaps I should quit at the rate things are going. Having to suffer through so much ableist stuff is getting to me at this rate...
This hits on an overall problem I have with a number of communities on Lemmy, so many of them try to attack the person instead of the culture.
One that is sticking in mind are the anti meat eaters. I fully understand and acknowledge that the rate at which we grow cows isn’t a great thing for our environment that someone trying to guilt trip me with that does nothing to my appetite when I want a burger.
A better idea is to attack the culture by helping to make more tasty no meat alternatives available and promoting the shit out of them. More choices will inevitably help to reduce the percentage (and thus the revenue) of the non preferred options selected.
A counter point worth considering, fossil fuels cars have been seen that way as well, but as electric cars improve and adoption increases, its starting to make a case to reduce the subsiding of the fossil fuels industry. If we also start soliciting our elected officials, it makes the case much stronger.
I’m picking that because it’s already starting to happen and we’re making that a part of the national conversation.
Food would be a slower process simply due to it being a much more ingrained part of a culture, but the same process can work.
Edit: thanks for the awesome conversation! This is why I really like being on Lemmy, conversations like this few more frequent and less tense.
Helldivers2 was supposed to used Sony account linking at launch but due to all of the login issues faced, it was agreed it would be temporarily disabled to try to alleviate some of the issues. Which I remember that being announced at the time by Arrowhead.
Sony then mandated that it be reenabled.
Fully agreed on the issues faced by people where Sonny is not offered/supported which is why it’s so important that people include that in any negative reviews they leave so that Arrowhead can use those reviews in discussions with Sony.
Make no mistake, this was not a new policy and my understanding is that any Sony studios game has this requirement.

It’s been a stance the US has had since the inception of Israel after ww2. Back then, the US had significantly more christians and christians tend to view jews as important because the bible says israel is where the end of days is supposed to start. After that decline, Israel has been viewed as an important ally for military reasons.
This will be one of the few times that having a bible thumping bitch of a step mother will come in handy. That’s definitely a verse but the story of end of days or “The Rapture” goes suchly
The antichrist will return and work to reunite the peoples of the desert, while doing so, they will also rebuild the lost temple of israel and once complete will sit upon the throne at which point the great armies shall unite in the middle east in a furious bloodshed. The antichrist will bring peace to that fight and demand subserience from all man. At that point, the rapture will happen and then the final prophecies shall begin.
For christians, this is seen as a good thing as they will be raptured and the good humans shall live in god’s final kingdom. For any of this to happen, Israel needs to exist.
The group adds that “rhetorical and physical manifestations” of antisemitism include such things as calling for the killing or harming of Jews or holding Jews collectively responsible for actions taken by Israel.
This is actually really good and a point I’ve tried to make to lukewarm success. The Israelis are not always in favor of the actions of their government much like we Americans aren’t. Making this distinction is important so that we remember who we’re actually angry at and who we demand action from regarding the clear genocide of the Palestinians.
Context: I’m an American Jew who is furious with Bibi’s actions and the IDF.
There’s a comment thread below yours that I’d love for you to read. This isn’t a “hey fuck off” but an actual ask since one of the comments is very similar to my mindset of the bill and I believe we can have a pretty good convo once you read the mindset a bit.
I agree that it has potential for misuse, but read the thread and let’s discuss (also it’s bedtime here so expect a delay in response from me please)
I understand that you’re trying to be helpful, but you’re jewplaining my culture to me. Please stop.
I’m fully aware that zionism does not equal judaism .
I’m also aware of some of the more problematic parts of the bill, but none of it directly ties Judaism to Zionism. The closest we get is this section
“Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g. by claiming that the existence of the State of Israel is a racist endeavor”
but even that at the moment is a stretch. The right to self-determination and sovereignty are rights respected by most every country and the UN. What I see as problematic would be potential future law that would define the boundaries of the State of Israel to include Palestine.
Mind helping me see your perspective on what makes this an L?
Edit: I just realized that my attempt to shorthand does not equal got rekt.

Woaw there, same team hombre. I know how I’m voting and lemme tell you it ain’t for treasondon. I’m just saying I’m not a fan of the fact that Biden is as old as he is. Sure he seems to be capable and doing a good job minus the Israel situation, I’d just be a bit happier were he younger and I think that’s a fair criticism to make
Age leads to a difference in viewpoint, what is hugely important to me isn’t necessarily so with someone 50 years older than me. How do I know it’ll be viewed with the same importance?
Mind you, I’m still voting for him. I’d just like someone a little closer to me in age and hopefully viewpoint.

I’ve properly missed out with this one and haven’t got a clue what is going on, beyond Sony aren’t letting some countries residents create accounts.
