To celebrate Towel Day, here is a special treat for fans of Douglas Adams.
Around 1994 I had a chance to see Adams live when he gave a reading in Munich. It was a fun evening with him being in a great mood.
Now several years ago I found a recording of that evening which was in a sub-folder of a totally different audio book. This recording seems to be completely unknown online with zero search results...

The desktop wallpapers provided in OSX were too low-energy for me today... and then I realized I can make some in Blender. Not sure why I never thought of this before...
Here, in case someone else needs fresh wallpaper. 😊
Got a new Mac and it's quite a difference to the previous machine.
This Blender scene renders in 246 seconds on a high-spec Intel i7 MacBook from 2020 and the new M3Pro Macbook finishes the exact same file in 36 seconds.
Almost 7 times faster than a Mac from 4 years ago. 😲
@santiago@elizabethtasker From what I remember reading a while ago, Apple is now donating engineering time to Blender, so the Mx GPU drivers come from Apple.
I have no other comparison, but from what I saw today, Blender goes like a rocket on the M3 Pro.
@tsturm@elizabethtasker Thanks I’ll have to check again how it’s doing nowadays on my machine. I obviously don’t expect it to be comparable to the M3. These days it will surely beat the eGPU because the poor thing just died at some point 😅
OK, one more post about our Tokyo trip: On our last day we went to see teamLab Borderless.
I can not even begin to describe how wild this installation is. If you have any chance at all, go see it.
It's huge, in darkness, with no map and there are hidden areas, so no two descriptions of the place will be the same. And these photos don't even begin to capture it...
