#DunePartTwo second viewing and dang, THIS IS FCKING CINEMA! I love so much what Villeneuve has done with Chani, it's such a great development of her character. And damn how does Chamalet sell this turn from Paul to the Holy Warrior. I'm blown away by the scope and scale of this film, its sights and sounds. That's what cinema was made for.

Man, we Europeans are so funny! There's the European Council, which is an EU body BUT NOT the same as the Council of the European Union, which also an EU body. And then there's the Council of Europe, which is also great BUT NOT an EU body. Got it? @Onceoday Oh I love the Netflix adaptation, it is very well done, love the characters and how the novel storylines map onto them. It's just that Shogun is such a big surprise for me in how utterly fantastic it is. It is such an old school sweeping epic, with so much attention to details, just blows me away.

@David I certainly feel more easily distracted and prone to lose a line of thought since my Covid infections. The first one was probably the culprit, without any prior vaccination (in late 2020). It hit me with brain fog and temporary short term memory loss. All of that recovered quickly but still, at times I can feel my brain not working as quickly as it used to. And I'm not even talking about infrequent blood clotting in my hands, probably a sign of arthritis or something that I hadn't before.

This is my favorite allrounder built that can (a) get you passed every Tech and Int check, (b) is both a Katana warrior, as well as (c) a pistol and (Tech) rifle sharpshooter, (d) can go quiet as fck or loud as fck. It needs some additional cyberware to push up health and melee damage, but then it's unbeatable. Bonus: with 20 Int and Tech you get a lot of the deeper lore stuff in Cyberpunk. What's your fav built?

@AbsolutelyDerek I did Gorilla arms in my first go but then decided against them in my consecutive playthroughs. Just don't want to cut off my arms 😅 The boxing subquest is still doable, it mainly comes down to your own health and how fast you can smash dat button!

People on Twitter are debating whether a person using uncommon words like "delve" are trying to sound smarter than they are, or worse, are ChatGPT bots, because "normal" people don't talk like that.

You don't have to get upset, or embroiled in the debate. Not worth the time or attention. But I'll share some important context as your friendly neighborhood Nigerian 🙋🏿‍♂️

Many Nigerians have bigger English language vocabularies and better command of grammar than the typical American or English person

@mekkaokereke Love this thread! I'm also reminded about my experience (as a "Non-Anglo" person) in project work with people from across Europe and our conversations in "European English", with lots of our "native" words, phrases and grammar interjected into English. It made total sense for "us" (Germans, French, Polish, Hungarians etc) but the English were always puzzled. We sounded both too posh/complicated and too wrong for them at the same time.

@mekkaokereke i guess it all comes down to the point that the English language no longer belonging to "Anglo people" but to everyone. Which also means that there are many more "X-English" than AE or BE.

Yeah but they don't speak British or American English. The Swede will speak something like European English and the Yemeni some other form, maybe Arab English. The cadence, the sentence structure, the words, the phrases, all will appear strange to a BE or AE person. Because they never had to converse in a third language and make it "theirs". So we are not talking about capital E-English but something else, a third language that resembles English but not quite.
