Oh god are already here?

"The software can also recognize targets, like missile launchers and tanks, and can drop bombs or fly into them without the drone operator needing to give the order, according to The Economist."

Anyone heard the fox news spin on how Biden could even influence a state conviction / prosecution? I assume they just gloss over that and get right to the outrage.

I love hearing them seethe though

Chat GPT doesn't know how many R's are in "strawberry" and is very persistent and creative in its lies

My attempt to get ChatGPT to count how many R's in strawberry

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@eloquence Interesting to see that it counts them correctly if you tell it not to take pronunciation into account

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@eloquence yeah, working for me this morning. but check this one out, endlessly amusing

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@eloquence I wonder how Khan Academy's bot is doing with this, can't really have a tutor that can't count

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@eloquence he does seem to have his head screwed on straighter than most in the tech sector right now

Long shot: Can anyone recommend me structureless harsh noise. I'm doing a really mind-numbing code maintenance task and I need something to blast all thought out of my head

Currently I'm listening to https://impermanence.bandcamp.com/track/ii and if I can't find a good thing to switch to after that I'm going with this YouTube asmr recording of a washing machine

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@mcc When I had babies I tried to get to sleep by blasting noise I liked the Texas Rain Storm youtube channel TexasHighDef:

always felt like streaming platforms/digi music outlets having the right to "create derivative works" gave them a lot of latitude.

wonder if that will change in the near future (?)

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@sean_ae I'm sure they are all using their catalogs to train ai

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@sean_ae shitty moves and cramming ai into everything is peak 2024

See the reason we need AI assistants is because real people will often make stupid mistakes and say really strange things and you'll have to watch over their output constantly to make sure it isn't completely wrong and I lost track of the point I was trying to make here

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@drskyskull it's the confidence AI shows when hallucinating that really sells it

@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

I just heard Sal Kahn on KQED talking about Khan Academy's new AI feature. They have it mentoring and doing socratic method stuff with students.

It will guide you, to lead yourself, to find the answer that there are 2 r's in "strawberry"

#ai #llm

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@ohmu idiocracy was prophecy!

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

That said, Khan actually spoke about the risks and harms of ai in a way that seemed pretty convincing and not all

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

First time I've heard a coherent pitch for ramming AI into something though

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@ohmu ok, I'll settle with "Idiocracy was profecy about MAGA"

For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.
