@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

you can stop FL Studio from adding 30-60 seconds of silence at the end of your exports:

on the export dialog switch "Tail" to "Cut remainder".

make sure you do your own fade out or you'll get a sharp cutoff, as the name implies.

Google wants AI to listen to your phone calls, detect scam callers

A scammer says "transfer the money in your bank account!" but Android is listening.

Stack Overflow users sabotage their posts after OpenAI deal

Anti-AI users who change or delete answers in protest are being punished.

@arstechnica clamping down on objectors is such a Streisand effect move. People willing to take the effort to remove their posts are probably a tiny group, but spiking them only makes their protest more potent

Under no scenario you should have Telegram installed on your phone. It's basically the Hulk Hogan of E2EE apps

I ordered an Eton Field Elite receiver via Amazon Warehouse. Someone there decided to ship an electronics item - a radio with an LED/LCD display - in a plastic bag! There was no box, ZERO padding or protection, not even bubble wrap. We actually heard it arrive and we literally jumped in our chairs due to a loud crashing sound - the sound of the Amazon driver dropping the plastic envelope containing the radio on our tile front walkway. It survived, with dents and many scratches. Unbelievable! smh

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@croyle i ordered a butter dish on amazon that came in totally inadequate packaging and was conveniently pre-smashed so i didn't have to break it myself. sent it back and the replacement had the same packaging, and, shock, also smashed on delivery.

Just opened my ThinkPad and for the second time in three days the act of closing the laptop to sleep it, then opening it again had caused Ubuntu to hardlock. This time I got a very brief small printout about "amd ring 0 error", then it went back to a black screen and I had to hold down the power button again.

I thought getting a ThinkPad, getting AMD cpu/gpu and picking the Linux distro Lenovo lists as supported would mean I got a minimally functioning computer but I guess not.

vitriolix,
@vitriolix@mastodon.social avatar

@mcc maybe Ubuntu has gotten into the planned obsolescence game
