How old are we talking? Final Fantasy VI, Super Metroid, Resident Evil 2, and the OG Tomb Raider series are all pretty old but great.

Portal, Portal 2, Mirror's Edge, Alien Isolation, Child of Light, Celeste, Tales of Berseria, Final Fantasy XIII, Slime Rancher, the newer Tomb Raifer games, and A Plague Tale are a few games from previous gens that hold up really well.

A more recent game that flew under a lot of people's radars is Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and it was a lot of fun. Also, Atelier Ryza and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure are very worth mentioning, too. :)

I wonder if they would have saved a ton of money getting it closer to this product prior to release, or if it would have taken the same amount of time and money regardless and just maybe saved their reputation a bit?

lol I kept being like, "oh, there was..." and then remembering that it was an indie game.

God of War: Ragnarok was pretty polished at launch. There was also LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga that launched in really good shape, IIRC. Tears of The Kingdom wasn't too bad either. Those are the only AAA games that I can think of from the last couple of years that weren't shitshows.

IIRC, he did intend to make 3 trilogies, but after making the prequels, he wanted to actually spend time with his kids and knew that making a sequel trilogy would consume another decade of his life.

He did "consult" on episode VII, but apparently he only had like one or two meetings and they used basically none of his ideas and didn't take any more input from him.

There's a bunch of info out there about what his trilogy would have been, and it's a shame because it actually sounds so much cooler than what we got, to me. If George had helmed the next trilogy but had maybe a co-writer/co-director to reign him in a bit like he had on the OG trilogy, we might have had something truly wild.

EDIT: This video has some really interesting details about what could have been.

I'd argue that the prequels were excellent, Shakespearian-level stories that pioneered the VFX of their time, but suffered from sometimes ridiculous dialogue and a director that wasn't good at working with actors (especially inexperienced actors).

If George had a writing/directing partner to help smooth stuff out and still had his ex-wife in the editing room, the prequels would probably have been damn near masterpieces.

Canonically, Venom can sneak up on Spider-Man because he once wore the symbiote and now Venom doesn't trigger his Spider-Sense. Venom doesn't have a Spider-Sense, but he can see in 360° all around him. That gives him an edge over Peter, but in this trailer we see Miles sneak up on Venom with his camouflage. That's pretty cool that they find ways to highlight that Peter and Miles can cover each other's blind spots like that.

ADHDefy,

Not yet. He did not wear it in the first game. Based on the gameplay video they put out, Peter does wear the symbiote suit in Spider-Man 2, but we don't know the order of events (does he have it before Venom? After?).

ADHDefy,
ADHDefy avatar

Not that I'm aware of. In every version I've seen/read, Peter has it first.

lol I straight-up forgot about those for a minute.

Alan Tudyk is a remarkably underrated actor. lol That movie is hilarious.

Same. lol As a kid, the first 3 movies were hilarious to me. Now, not so much. But I really appreciate them for what they were back in the day.

That's encouraging, I hope you're right!

Do we know if API implementation will be part of it yet?

Are there any prince movies for kids?

Anyone who knows about kids’ movies knows how popular princess movies are, especially Disney princesses. My child is six and absolutely loves them too. My child also loves princes and kings, but I’m having a hard time finding anything that features a character as easily beloved as Elsa or Moana for example. Even worse, a lot...

Zuko's a prince! He's not an awesome role model, but he's an outstanding character and there are some great lessons to be learned from watching him over the course of the whole series.

Just finished it tonight, it was really excellent. My only complaint was that Kumail Nanjiani didn't return as Prismo because of a stupid communication error with his management team. :(

With that heartbreak aside, it was a truly great watch.

I've been using it for a long time. I've personally found that there is essentially no impact on gaming performance--or if there is, it's so slight that it's totally negligible on midrange hardware, especially with feral gamemode. It might be more impactful on low spec PCs, I would assume, but I'm not sure of that. In my case, it's plenty lightweight and offers lots of customizability.

Was there anyone who was force "immune"?

Basically what the title says. There’s always discussions about someone being force sensitive and how they could use the force or not sensitive to it at all, but has anyone ever been completely immune to it? Like if Vader was doing a force choke and the person was just like “why are you holding your hand up like that? What...

Jabba resists Jedi mind tricks, too, doesn't he? Idk if that's just being strong-minded or a biological condition for Hutts.

The Maintainer Of The NVIDIA Open-Source "Nouveau" Linux Kernel Driver Resigns (www.phoronix.com)

Hours after posting a large patch series for enabling the Nouveau kernel driver to use NVIDIA's GSP for improving the support for RTX 20/30 series hardware and finally enabling accelerated graphics support on RTX 40 'Ada Lovelace' GPUs, the Red Hat maintainer has resigned from his duties.

How does Nouveau currently compare to official drivers? I'm sure it's not in much of a state for proper comparison yet, but I was unaware of this project and I'm just curious how far they have come.

I agree that it is, but I also love that this headline basically reads, "guy who makes thing says the thing he makes is the best thing."

I agree. For now, you can get the Anti-Fake News International and Medical Pseudoscience block lists for uBlock Origin, they do a really good job of blocking that stuff.

But yeah, it would be sweet if Kbin/Lemmy allowed you to block links to certain domains.
