I eat popcorn fairly often and I was wondering if I can improve on the taste with minimal effort. Do you guys know any good mix I could use instead of salt alone?
I'm looking for PC games that I can play while listening to podcasts- games that don't have engaging cut scenes or important dialogue, games that honestly don't require a lot of skill or thought....
Yup the devs have stated they won’t put in on sale. In fact they raised the price fairly recently to adjust for inflation.
The game is worth every cent. Try the demo - you’ll know if the game is your jam or not pretty quick. (Though the demo is very “on rails” while the main game is much more Freeform and open)
I’ve been using a community profile that I’ve grown to really enjoy while playing the Space Exploration mod on my Steamdeck. Having a set of menu hotkeys mapped to the trackpads virtual buttons is very convenient. It is also setup to swap to a mini number pad when holding X. It is called “Factorio Steam Deck by Zirbs” if anyone is curious and wants to check it out. Works with vanilla but is designed with SE in mind.
I’ll need to test out the official version again to see how it fairs - I only briefly used it while checking out the switch demo back when it first came out. With the new button support it may be possible to make an even better layout.
It is no small feat to learn how to play DF, let alone learn it while playing live on stream. It took me weeks of constant restarting to feel somewhat comfortable (mind you this was with the LNP era of the game).
Chat had fun explaining how dwarfs essentially lay down and let another crawl over them when passing on a single title wide hallway. Traumatic hallway indeed.
Lime’s stream of it was quite entertaining - running out of booze, puppy explosion, miners getting a free trip to the spicy sauna, several nasty FBs inc. web spitting and made of fire, and finally the circus. She really rolled with the punches and made a pretty legit fort (up until it’s inevitable demise). Losing is fun :)
Someone here already has 12 subs on his own. We would be inspired to avoid the era of the power mods. Moding should involve an interest, not just collecting rings of infinity like it's a gold rush. How can it be a good practice in the long term?...
I’m all for more accountability and providing some guard rails but a per account limit will not solve much. It is trivial to have and to use multiple accounts to bypass any limits.
It is a tricky topic - power mods in and of themselves are not inherently a problem. If fact, I’d argue that people who take it upon themselves to moderate many communities (successfully) contribute more to the health of a site than the majority of users.
I suppose it is worth diving into the specifics of why a single user moderating multiple communities can be problematic. Then what can be done to address these issues.
Perhaps a tribunal system that allows the mods of other federated servers (who moderated the “same” type of content) to intervene in a conflict. I’d be worried about abuse with any automatic system, but at the very least a way to petition a site owner to step in would be helpful. A way to say “the collective federated mods believe that [@]Spez[@]kbin.social is problematic [due to exibit A, B, etc.] and it is agreed upon than they should be removed as a moderator of m/RedditMigration“
I ask that people modmail subreddits that have privated in protest (you can see which ones here: https://reddark.untone.uk/) and ask they put a message about kbin migration into their about section so users trying to see those subs will come here and start communities. It will help grow kbin as well as contribute to the protest....
It appears that the kbin.social URL being mentioned will flag the post/thread as ‘spam’. I’m unsure if subreddit mods can override it since it is a sitewide blacklist.
I'm pretty excited for this game. I don't have a PS5 yet, maybe this Christmas. But if you do, what better way to spend time in the world of Final Fantasy when it feels like the rest of the internet in down.
Too bad I am away from my PS5 for the next week or so. I’d even settle with remote play to check out the demo if it was viable (it isn’t).
The action style gameplay is right up my alley and I’ve enjoyed just about all the FF stories. Can’t wait to get my hands on this evolution of the series.
I think come July, Reddit will remember why websites offer free/low cost API access.
Everyone who wants the data will start busting out the web scrapers again. Chat GPT makes deciphering any obscuration techniques (changing class names, table formats, etc.) absolutely trivial.
It isn’t too surprising that it’ll be 30 FPS target on console. Maybe a post launch performance mode could still happen.
There were a few shots in the most recent showcase that looked pretty rough FPS-wise. Specifically the clips with a rapid firing weapon. I’d assume they are using beefy RTX 4090 rigs to capture their footage. Never a good sign if you are dropping to sub 25 FPS during an action scene with that kind of setup.
I know the big optimization pass is at the end of a development cycle - so there is likely going to be some improvement. Unfortunately Bethesda’s track record is less than stellar when it comes to launch day performance.

Going on a trip for the next few days and will have plenty of downtime in the hotel room on my iPad. What are your favorite ipad games?...

Which is the first PC game that blew your mind?
For me it was definitely DOOM 2! Miles ahead of anything else I had played before.

Factorio finally got controller support (forums.factorio.com)
I've just tried it out and it's amazing. Although the back buttons (R4, L4, R5, L5) don't work for some reason....

OC I ask everyone here to modmail large subreddits about kbin
