Hah! I'll have to ask. It was a bridal shower gift for my daughter and she took it home. The guests were given a blank card ahead of time.

More details:

  • The african mahogany has a continuous grain pattern all around the box.
  • It was made with simple miter joints and the splines you see on the image.
  • The bottom is also made with maple.
  • The inner walls are maple that were friction fit.
  • Finished with tung oil.
  • I had to make 2 jigs for this: a cross cut sled with an edge for the 45 degree cuts and a spline jig.

Loved it. It's the first time I had tried a drying oil as a finish. It really made the grain pop and gave it a richer color than I thought it would. I got mine from Rockler which comes unthinned. I put the first coat on 50/50 with mineral spirits and the second coat unthinned. It was much easier to use thinned than not.

Taxpayers spent over $1 Trillion on the PPP program, of which, $200 billion is thought to be fraudulent. Another case of only corporations get socialism in the US.

I've had issues the other way too. Smaller servers (even my own) that don't send notifications or list badges on channels.

The same thing happened with saccharin. There is a link to cancer in mice, but the dose as a percentage of body weight is very high. There is no way a person could consume that much in a day.

Dose adjusted risk is the true metric here.

Being obese conveys a higher risk of cancer as well.

Casa Bonita eliminates tipping, going against service industry norm (www.denverpost.com)

“In order to provide a higher-than-average, dependable wage, we shifted to a no-tipping model and doubled the hourly rate to more than $30/hr for our service staff. This shift also benefits our guests, who can enjoy Casa Bonita without incurring unexpected costs,” management said.

Going away from tipping isn't as fringe as it was 10-20 years ago. In general, customers will tip reasonably the same amount regardless of the level of service - unless the service is exception or dismal. These extremes make up a very small percentage of the total number of experiences. Things that affect tips more? Hand written notes on the receipts, bubbly attitude, and I hate to say this one - borderline flirting with male customers (laughing at their jokes, casual hand on the arm/shoulder, being overly complimentary, etc). I want to stress that I don't find this appropriate, but it has been shown to drive up tips. This is one of the many criticisms of the practice - that it can be about misogynistic interactions between guests and staff. People like tipping because it gives them a sense of very tangible feedback on how they felt the service went. The problem is that it is used by many restaurants as an excuse to not pay a living wage.

There are so many service related professions that do not work on tips and they are able to maintain a high standard. Certainly not all of them. But in those companies where there is no tipping and I don't get good service, I don't go back.

Source: I opened a restaurant in 2016 and ran it until 2020 when COVID killed it. I strongly considered going to a no tipping model at that time, but it would not have been received well by my market. There were no other restaurants in the area that did it and I was overruled by my partners.

This comes after a temporary stay in the redrawing of the map prior to the 2022 election.

Physician here. I completely agree. I have seen quite a few changes and additions to therapy for DM in the last 20 years of my career. Thankfully, most of these have shown a continual decrease in the likelihood of heart attack and stroke associated with DM. As you say, the GLP1s are a miracle and offer very convenient dosing (in some cases weekly).

Physician here. There are too many possible issues with pregnancy, social situations, etc. to ever effectively be able to navigate that decision tree via legislation. It is barbaric to force women through a non-viable pregnancy. It is barbaric to withhold medical care from a woman whose life is threatened by her pregnancy. It is barbaric to force women into a devastating social situation.

Society will never agree on where the line should be placed or what is morally correct. The decision needs to be in the hands of the mother and their medical team.

Finally, for those who believe in "natural consequences". No birth control is 100% effective. Not all sex is consensual. Non-viable pregnancies happen regardless of how careful you are. Bad outcomes aren't always the result of bad choices.

Physician here. The psychological impacts of gender identity issues are very real and would occur even if society was 100% accepting of trans people. Sadly, society is not which makes it worse. These folks need and deserve healthcare. That care involves not only helping them work through their journey, but also supporting it with psychiatric care, hormonal options, and in some cases, surgical treatment. Transphobes make it sound like society is allowing minors to be injured by these practices. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Puberty blocking medications are a reversible option for adolescents. If they determine that they would like to proceed with their biological identity later, the meds are stopped and their puberty ensues. Very few minors receive any type of gender reassignment surgery. Most of the time, patients will start with hormonal treatment and pursue surgical options when they are done growing and usually when they are over 18. But there are exceptions.

Putting extra negative attention on people going through this and limiting their treatment options is draconian and must stop.

Not because of that. In order to be convicted under the Espionage act, the violation needs to be willful. Being in a room with Trump and being told, "Hey, look at this!" doesn't really seem willful to me.

I have no specific knowledge of the statute. But my guess would be the only ones with a duty to report, if that duty exists, would be federal employees - which includes elected officials.
