The rubber bridge is the hottest trend in indie guitar and a cheap mod to try – here’s how to install one on your electric guitar (www.guitarworld.com)

Used on recordings by everyone from Phoebe Bridgers to The National and Taylor Swift, the rubber bridge generates short-sustaining, almost otherworldly voices from an otherwise regular guitar

How to be less racist/bigotred?

So I am a part of the LGBTQ community and work in a big city in middle europe. A lot of my coworkers are religios and have a foreign background. They are mostly very nationalist and homo-/transphobic. I hate them for their blind hate and bigotry, which wont change. I have realised, that I have become a bit bigotred towards...

Andjhostet,

It is when you start assuming non-bigots are bad people because of what they look like.

Andjhostet,

I actually see the value in providing a safe space for oppressed or marginalized communities, such in the way that women's shelters don't allow men.

I don't know what the answer is be here, but it's not nearly as black and white (no pun intended) as commenters here seem to believe.

Andjhostet,

If all the leeches on society fled we'd be much better off. Let them leave. They don't pay their fair share anyways, and their neoliberal lobbying has destroyed this country.

Andjhostet,

Tbh a good percentage of Americans would turn down a million dollars if it meant minorities didn't get it.

Andjhostet,

My dude is about to become a Scooby Doo villain

Andjhostet,

Do... do you not understand that city design and political and economic ideology are inextricably linked?

Andjhostet,

I hope it isn't locked into a liberalism ideology too much. If I want to make food and housing a human right, workers employed by the state, and/or democratically owned workplaces do I have the option for that?

My utopian city has no landlords or bourgeoisie and I hope I can make that happen.

Andjhostet,

I'll see if I can count to 10

One Week - Barenaked Ladies

Two Worlds Apart - Little Sims

Three Little Birds - Bob Marley

Four Out of Five - Arctic Monkeys (two for one)

Six Blade Knife - Dire Straits

Seven Nation Army - White Stripes

Eight Miles High - The Byrd's

N95 - Kendrick Lamar (couldn't think of a better "9" song)

Ten Years Gone - Led Zeppelin

Andjhostet,

PG is amazing. I love StandardEbooks.org as well. They have a smaller selection, but they are impeccably formatted and really high quality.

Tell USDOT That Deadly Vehicles Shouldn’t Receive 5-Star Safety Ratings | National Association of City Transportation Officials (nacto.org)

The proposals are open for public comment until today July 25th, and your feedback can help ensure NHTSA’s new rules are best designed to keep our streets safe. Submit your comments to the federal register: federalregister.gov/…/new-car-assessment-program

Andjhostet,

So NHTSA is pretending to care about pedestrians for the first time in their existence? This is a nice surprise.

Andjhostet,

I'd recommend checking out Justin Guitar. He'll teach you a really solid fundamentals. The absolute gold standard for learning guitar on the internet.

But to answer your question, you're going to want to learn how to do power chords, and barre chords. Barre chords are going to be a bitch, but it's worth it. It's a huuuuge plateau for new guitarists to get over.

Andjhostet,

Farming and construction are the only fields that need a truck. Everything else can be done better with a van, yeah.

Andjhostet,

I wouldn't trust my kids around someone that pronounces it k'bin

Andjhostet,

Splatoon and TOTK are gonna be my weekend I think.

OC I haven't seen anyone mention the kbin native(?) app!? I tried it and it seems perfect and amazing?

I tried Jerboa briefly and couldn't get it to work well for me. Then I visited kbin on my phone's browser and was prompted to install the kbin app!? I haven't seen any references to it, but it's exactly what I wanted...? Has anybody else tried it?

Andjhostet,

You mean the chrome based web app thing right? I think it's literally just a separate window that runs the mobile site on chrome. It's pretty functional though, I agree.

Really missing notifications though.

This may be a dumb question but how do I create a new thread in a magazine? When I click on the "+" button in the top right of Kbin, I have the options: Add new Link, Add New Article, Add New Photo, Add New Post, Add New video, Create New Magazine.

I would have thought "Add New Post" was the right choice, but that brings me here, to the microblog. How do I just create a new text only thread? I'm surprised it's this unintuitive for me, considering the entire point of this site. Is it "Add article?"

EDIT: Apparently it's "Add article" after some experimenting. Definitely doesn't seem intuitive to me, but maybe it's just me.

Andjhostet, to books

How do you all track your books?

I generally use a Google Spreadsheet, with Title, Author, Date Started, Date Finished, Rating, Review, and Source (such as physical/own, or Libby-Audiobook, etc).

Then I put the info into Goodreads at some point, but honestly I'm considering dropping GR, and either just doing the spreadsheet, or trying a new website.
