I, like many gamers, grew up playing Pokémon Red and Nintendo 64 and was obsessed with Nintendo products. I graduated to a PS2 and PS3 and became super into Metal Gear Solid and Call of Duty and Fallout. Also spent a ton of time with the Guitar Hero series. I loved the escape gaming brought me and it genuinely helped me relax....
When I got into my gaming rut I took some time off and got into Homelabbing. Used to scroll through my extensive steam library and nothing caught my interest so I needed something new.
Learned about different NAS Os’s, Docker, Linux and seeing what I could get out of some low-powered hardware and what I loved most was learning new things.
Started with a Raspberry Pi when they weren’t stupid expensive and moved onto a cheap Intel Nuc to my home made, small form factor NAS running Unraid and a 2nd cheap Thin Client running Ubuntu Server.
I focussed on doing more with my computer hardware and for a long while, didn’t feel the necessity to game much, then one day I fired up Forza Horizon 4 and had a good, enjoyable 5 hour session on it.
Now I’m back into re-playing Horizon Zero Dawn, I plan to move onto Forbidden West after and tearing around the UK and Mexico in Forza Horizon 4/5.
See if you can find another hobby or something that can enhance your knowledge on something you’ve never tried before for a while, one day you ,ignite just fire up a game after having a rest and get that spark back.
I just tried to find one of my very popular, but deleted help comments on r/synology via Google but couldn't find it.
What I did find heartening is that they've flagged the sub as NSFW so I can't view anything unless logging in (which I can't do because my account is gone). Also, r/plex is set to private so that's useless too.
Currently, on the main instance, people have created 40191 accounts (+214 marked as deleted). I don't know how many are active because I don't monitor it, but once again, I greet all of you here :) In recent days, the traffic on the website has been overwhelming. It's definitely too much for the basic docker-compose setup,...
I find Inon Zur’s tracks on fallout to be superb and can’t wait to see how the Starfield OST ends up, also Mick Gordon’s Doom OST is absolute perfection.
Licensed tracks in the Wipeout series are excellent, including the originals from Cold Storage. Such good memories playing the best AG racer.
It's Microsoft's take on ChatGPT powered search and as an example, I asked it what it was for you - this is the output:
Hello, this is Bing. Bing Chat is a new feature for Bing’s search engine that lets you talk to an AI chatbot rather than simply filling out search queries. You can ask questions, get answers, and create content using natural language. Bing Chat is powered by ChatGPT, an AI system that can generate realistic and engaging conversations.
It's now my go-to if I get stuck on anything and as another example, I asked it:
write me a program that says helllo Hikyuri in different colours in sinclair basic.
here's what it spat out:
I’ll try to create that. Here is a possible program that says hello Hikyuri in different colors in Sinclair BASIC:
10 REM This program prints hello Hikyuri in different colors
20 FOR C = 0 TO 7
30 INK C
40 PRINT "Hello Hikyuri"
50 NEXT C
60 END
It really is clever. Google also have Bard to do the same but it doesn't seem as good which is a first for me
We're getting towards the mid-point of the year, and (unless I've missed it) I can't seem to find a thread for discussing what our favourite games of the year have been....
Since rpis have been almost impossible to find, I've been looking around for alternatives for some local self hosted services like home assistant. A lot of boards seem to talk about GPU, GPIO pins, etc. But I really just want a single board, fanless (low power), decent CPU and RAM, ethernet....
There's a lot of noise with this one. Among the noisiest we've seen. Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well. The most important things we can do right now are stay focused, adapt to challenges, and keep moving forward. We absolutely must ship what we said we would....
Ublock Origin is an obvious one, but I also can't stand not having Foxy Gestures anymore. It adds customizable mouse gestures, so you can set it up to have easy swipes to go back a page, reload a page, close a tab, etc, and it feels wonderful and smooth to use compared to just using the traditional buttons to do everything....
The ads mixed in, disguised with posts and the almost full page ads whenever viewing on mobile were/are atrocious.
I tried it and immediately gave up when I saw that was how they intended to monetise my eyes.
An odd banner ad within the feed that was visually distinct to the media I was consuming would have been tolerable but not the way they had it when I tried it.
Android is my favorite currently, but when I was growing up it was Symbian, comparing it to java it was miles ahead with way more advanced capabilities!
I was big on Symbian S60 and my all time favourite phone was the Nokia N95.
Camera was way ahead of anything at the time and was the first time I felt that I could get by with a phone camera. Got some lovely shots in that when I had it.
I even had a soft spot for the N-Gage and later the N-Gage QD. Total failures however.
I’ve fallen into a deep gaming rut lately. What helped “get you back into” gaming and rediscover the magic of video games?

Reddit activated a word filter that whenever you say "fuck spez", your comment won't show up for anyone else. I just tested it on ModCoord. they're also deleting spez memes from the subs they nuked lol
r/ModCoord: The admins in charge of demodded subreddits are mass-removing images of Huffman previously shared on them...
Well shit, they're even going after tiny not-so-active subs like mine (lemmy.world)
What should I do now lol

Curious, if you were/are a Reddit user, will you be leaving the platform for good or have you already? CEO has called unpaid moderators' concerns "noise", that will be "passing soon."
