He's not really wrong. A Ford pickup can be beat to hell, and u can source just about any part on the truck within a 20 minute drive. When your pay relies on your transportation and hauling, time is money. A truck made of a giant piece of sheetmetal and something that needs to go back to Tesla for any issue won't cut it.
I haven't been on here as much as normal as I've had a busy week(for me). How is everyone? Anything cool happen?Anything to get off your chest? Or Just shoot the breeze
A boob, a butt, or even some violence like one might see on the news anyway, I’m not freaked out about all that and I don’t feel the need to hide it from those around me usually… that’s all fine fine, but I don’t want porn on my feed like at all....
What do you guys think of the idea of smart homes? I could make a basic setup using https://home-assistant.io to control my home temperature and lighting; the tools for doing this are everywhere nowadays and implementation doesn't seem too horrific anymore....
The rate at which the go obsolete is my issue. If you invest in a system, just be prepared to replace everything every five years, and there is almost nothing yoiu can 'fix'...it is all disposable.
Agreed. Free speech is ment to be painful sometimes, so going to a site yoiu don't fundamentally agree with is part of the fair process, IMHO. On the flip side, getting outside of one's own echo chamber can be a growth opportunity.
LibreOffice is preinstalled in Pop OS, and as someone who loves the idea of FOSS I want to use it, but inevitably I just use Google docs or Office Online. Is it really worth learning? Has anyone successfully incorporated it into your workflow?
I have been using it forever. I love it, and usually install it for friends and family members. Drive is fine, but they are indexing and reading your data, and I prefer to own my software.
This goes out to all the homies that don't have the time/energy to moderate, and to the ones that do that would like ideas (If there's been posts about this already then I'm srry)
There's a lot of noise with this one. Among the noisiest we've seen. Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well. The most important things we can do right now are stay focused, adapt to challenges, and keep moving forward. We absolutely must ship what we said we would....
After the (temporary) defederation announcement of earlier i checked the Lemmy repo to see if there was already a ticket on the federation limiting option like Mastodon's that people mentioned Lemmy doesn't yet have. Not only i didn't find it, i also saw that there's about 200+ open tickets of variable importance. Also saw that...
As a former redditor I am glad to have found a new "home" and I hope I'm not intruding. Nevertheless, we are all a huge migration that is bound to change how kbin works and we're bound to piss off some pre-migration Keebinetters. The fact you guys were here before and not in reddit makes evident you don't want this to become a...

I'm a Scotch man. I like Aberfeldy 18, Balvenie single cask, and Kilchoman for my top 3....
We need to be able to differentiate between NSFW and porn.

Lemmy should implement the ability to clone a community from one instance to another
I think this feature will help keep communities alive if something goes wrong. I hope Lemmy implements this feature.
Does anyone actually use LibreOffice?
LibreOffice is preinstalled in Pop OS, and as someone who loves the idea of FOSS I want to use it, but inevitably I just use Google docs or Office Online. Is it really worth learning? Has anyone successfully incorporated it into your workflow?

What are you currently passionate about it interested in? What are some cool things about that thing, or interesting stuff that you've learned?...

What are some communities you'd like to see on Lemmy that don't exist yet?

Anyone else prefer the app over the desktop website?
Idk it just seems to work/look better and doesn't sign me out whenever I go on some certain instances
Curious, if you were/are a Reddit user, will you be leaving the platform for good or have you already? CEO has called unpaid moderators' concerns "noise", that will be "passing soon."
