Long story short: we have been meeting each other for a while for semi-professional reasons, around two years now, although we only got close in the recent months. We have a very strong group of friends thanks to which we interacted a lot recently....
Honestly, as someone in a relationship with a person who I thought was solidly, stratospherically "out of my league" at first, I can tell you the concept of "leagues" is wildly inaccurate (even though a part of me is still convinced that she is way out of my league).
Two things matter here:
Your ability to be yourself (or an improved but still faithful version of yourself). Don't pretend to be something you aren't, that isn't going to end well regardless of the possibility of a romantic relationship.
Your ability to accept and get over rejection without affecting your current relationship. You have to be able to be confident enough that if you ask her out and she says no, you can say "hey, no worries, that's cool" and mean it so she doesn't have to worry about you being weird about it subsequently. You also have to be able to accept that if she doesn't reciprocate your feelings, she might be slightly distant and less trusting of you for a little while subsequent to whenever you do ask her out. Do not overreact or overcompensate for this in any way whatsoever. Treat her exactly the way you have been all along, as friends. If you think you can't, step away for however long it takes you to manage your feelings, and be kind the whole way through.
Now that we're clear on that, see how your time together next week goes. If she seems like she genuinely enjoys having you around, ask to hang out again in a more informal situation. Invite her out to something you think she might be interested in. See how that goes. If it consistently goes well a couple of times (for both of you), gently bring up how you feel and tell her you'd like to ask her out on an actual date, and be guided by her response. Judging by what you've told us up there, your chances are already looking pretty good, because she seems to enjoy your company a lot.
Tl;dr -- be yourself, be brave, and most of all, be (genuinely) kind. You'll be all right one way or the other. Good luck!
Suzanne Jovin was born January 26, 1977 in Germany. The first time I saw the Matrix, it was a pirated copy that was a final cut except it was missing all of the licensed music tracks. Hal -- It's the Sims, except focused on one guy called Hal.
Super Sash Bros -- They're all fabulous and they love to parade about in their sashes!
Dragon Ball Xenverse -- A couple of Saiyans find themselves in the Borderworld and help Gordon Freeman send the Nihilanth packing.
The Matrix: Path of No -- You take the blue pill. The end.
Low frequencies (bass) travel farther and are most likely to make whatever material is around the speaker resonate, amplifying the sound -- that's why you tend to hear the bass first. If it's really loud some things will visibly vibrate -- that's the bass making that happen
I just got my new (used) bike, and I'm also a big music nerd and love to listen to music when I'm traveling. Do you personally listen to music while you're cycling, and in your opinion is it safe?
I listen to music or podcasts while cycling to/from work everyday, but at low enough volumes that I can easily hear traffic around/behind me. I would not recommend it if you've just started cycling, but if you're comfortable enough on a bike in city traffic it should be okay. Just make sure you're always constantly aware of what's happening around you.
I don't talk to my actual father any more. I wish I could tell him I'm grateful for the things he did for me but I'm beyond livid for the ways in which he and my mother fucked each other up and fucked me up twice over in the process. I don't know how to explain why I don't talk to them any more, I don't know how to get them to look beyond their own selfishness and understand how much damage they've caused.
I miss him but also I never want to see his face again.

Yeah I just tried it and kbin.social isn't on the list. Funny enough, reddthat.com isn't on there either -- I logged into Jerboa with a reddthat instance account lol
This happened a while ago and is potentially an ongoing issue, so I figured I could kick us off.
This is between me (31F) and my sister (36F).
I'm studying to become a gemologist. I've completed about 90% of the coursework and have a ton of new knowledge and even a decent amount of practical experience. I don't make myself out to be an expert, but I definitely know a lot more than the average person and maybe even some jewelers.
So my sister and I were talking on Zoom and I mentioned something cool I saw recently. She said "Oh! I have this ring and it's a star opal, what does that sound like to you?" Completely automatic, unfiltered, I replied with "Sketchy." She got a little annoyed and told me she would get it so she could show me (through Zoom.) Thing is, star opal isn't... real. Not in the same way that you see star sapphires. They don't have the crystal structure or formation conditions for it. So she shows me via zoom and I say "That's really pretty, but I really don't think that's opal since they don't form that way, maybe it's something else." She got defensive and said that her friend got it for her in Thailand (not confidence-inspiring tbh) and that it was just something I haven't seen before. I ended up telling her I'd look at it the next time I see her or something.
AITA for calling my sister's ring sketchy? WIBTA if she shows it to me again of her own volition and I tell her what it actually is (probably glass)?
@BabushkaCat Oh yeah no definitely, star sapphires are like that because of crystal structure, star opals are like that because of impurities. Totally on the same page here. I'm glad we could come to an understanding :D

This band is criminally underrated and I love it

What is vitrification? Vitrification is accomplished by mixing waste from underground tanks with glass-forming materials in high-temperature melters.
Am I (24M) being delusional over possibilities of a relationship with my crush (21F)?

Why is bass sometimes the loudest?
So you know when it's quiet and your neighbor is playing loud music, but you can only hear the bass? Why is it like that?
