It's ripe for exploitation, too. The tooling isn't mature yet, so malicious actors are having a field day

It's a useful term, particularly for subcultures

OMG the wiki article on soaking is hysterical

'Durfing – Dry humping between church members is also called "durfing"'

FrostBolt,

Likely an overreaction to the current protests / social unrest / whatever you want to call it

Agreed. It seems like such a basic feature. I’m missing it on kbin

Derelict Station by Me (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

A painting of a scene from my work-in-progress novel Sailor for the Second Dusk. Three spacer pirates stop to scavenge supplies from what they think is an ancient derelict station, but soon find it was destroyed far more recently than they thought. Among these spacers is the main character, who is still getting used to his suit...

The problem is it isn’t just data backups, it’s that one’s email is the backing account for many other accounts online either as a TFA or as the username for some site.

How many of you are still working full-time remote and how is it going? If not, why not? Was the decision made by you to go back to the office or did your employer decide for you?

I am still working full-time remote. There are definitely some social aspects of going to the office I miss, but I really don't miss the commute or the shitty office politics. Overall I feel I am still more productive from home and happier overall.

Still 100% remote, and have been for over three years (software engineer). And even before covid, I was often doing hybrid roles. I work so much better remotely.

My current company is trying to press for "5% travel" to have people attend the idiotic on-site meetings, but they haven't forced me to do it

Might quit my job soon (for other reasons). I'm committed to staying fully remote even if it makes my job search harder (which it undoubtedly will).

I remember seeing a demo in the mall when I was a kid. It looked so futuristic

It’s tough. You’re having a rational response to a difficult future. But there are things you can do to at least help your peace of mind. Take news breaks. Meditate. Reflect on the things you are grateful for.

Impressive

Isn't there also something where a magazine mod/owner can add hashtags to be associated with their magazine, and then Microblog will fill with Mastodon posts hitting those hashtags?

they are not interested in the same things that bees are, or as diligent

frikkin slackers!

Can you explain the GM-less game thing? Sounds intriguing

A lot of the answers are missing the “in cash” stipulation. Amazon.com doesn’t take cash. It’s a much easier question if it’s not cash.

It also stipulates spending it, so I couldn’t just deposit it in the bank.

Honestly I’m not sure I could spend much of it. It’s decently late where I am and most of the electronics stores are closed.

Another commenter’s gift card idea is a good one. There might still be a Walmart or something open.

Exactly right. Authoritarian regimes are all about presenting an image of control and power. We've now seen chinks in the armor. Prigozhin was able to take two 1-million population cities in mere hours, and get a deal to back down. This shows Putin's weakness. Russia is less a traditional nation state and more a loose coalition of mafia crime bosses. People thinking that this is over or settled because Prigozhin backed down are mistaken.
