Agenda-free TV is covering it live on YouTube right now
This is looking real. Footage is emerging of Wagner fighters walking through the streets of Rostov (just east of Ukraine. Unconfirmed reports of Wagner shooting down Russian helicopters
The Fediverse must be very careful to avoid getting branded as the "alternative to X". In my experience, platforms that have historically branded themselves as "alternative to" or "anti-" have generally not done well. Learned this from the last Reddit exodus: let's make this one different!...
What I wonder is: what's the motivation for these bot network attackers? Is it some script kiddie doing it for lulz? A reddit "nationalist"? Russia and China getting an early start on propaganda tools for the newer platforms?
It's easy to tell from fediverse observer stats that most of the new users aren't not organic: new accounts is almost a couple orders of magnitude higher than daily active users
Here is where I am at. Live in an apartment so space is tight and needed everything to be able to move into the closet. I’ve got SNES, N64, Wii mini, Sega Genesis, PS2, a vcr, receiver and stereo speakers, Extron switcher, and playing them all on a Sony PVM14L5. The rack is from Amazon and most are hooked up via RGB.
Factorio. I had actually become aware of how fun building games could be through Prison Architect a couple years prior. But Factorio took it to a whole other level. Extraordinary freedom and near limitless things to do -- it's distilled, weaponized, dangerously addictive fun for people who have engineering brains
I suppose that's an idea. I'm still not fully used to federation, neither on the technical level nor the social norm level (and maybe we're all figuring that out as we go)
That's great, but I haven't figured out how to do that in the UI. Tried Create New Article, even while subscribed to newcommunities@lemmy.world and it won't populate the community dropdown
Thank you. Your comment helped me figure it out. In kbin you have to use the upper right + (plus) button to do it. And then the community dropdown fills in properly.
Do they want a devastating, million-view YouTube documentary on the fall of reddit made?
Because they sure seem to be asking for one
and Internet Historian would have a field day with it...
Currently, on the main instance, people have created 40191 accounts (+214 marked as deleted). I don't know how many are active because I don't monitor it, but once again, I greet all of you here :) In recent days, the traffic on the website has been overwhelming. It's definitely too much for the basic docker-compose setup,...
It would be nice when you get a chance to see some sort of meter graph to show whether the buymeacoffee donations are not meeting, meeting, or exceeding costs of running the server and your time/effort spent (which should count too)
I think I'm having social withdrawal issues, which is odd as I'm not the most social person in the world. I got used to living in London, which had multiple opportunities for me to head out and hang with people when I chose to do so, which was maybe two or three times a week. The rest of the time I worked form home and kept to myself. Down here in country Tasmania, I don't even have that many chances to hang. I miss it. #lonely#personal
@golgaloth Sorry to hear it. I’m going through something similar: moved from a dense urban area to the suburbs and work from home so I am feeling isolated. I’m thinking I should start or join a D&D group or something.
Kbin.social Russia megathread
I saw some other servers have megathreads so following suit...
PSA: Upvote is not an upvote like you are used to (like Reddit) - "Boost" is the Reddit Upvote
Like the title says, if you want to upvote something on KBin, you should use the Boost link, not the upvote button (Why? Don't know...)...
Military Base on Fire in Moscow Region (twitter.com)
What's your Sci-Fi unpopular opinion?
It's a slightly click-baity title, but as we're still generating more content for our magazines, this one included, why not?...
I use , obviously (sh.itjust.works)
CTA: Create a thriving Fediverse without relying on Reddit

What's the mob policy on Emojis here on the fediverse?
Like a lot of people here, I'm coming from the rexodus and I was just wondering if we still have to lynch people using emojis in their comments?...
Protect. Moderate. Purge. Your. Sever.
Please. Captcha by default. Email domain filters. Auto-block federation from servers that don't respect. By default. Urgent....
~~Almost~~ OVER 90% of the accounts on lemmy are now bot accounts!!
Here you can see 2 day old post warning about the danger of not using email/captcha verification: https://lemmy.ml/post/1345031...
Lemmy's total users continues to surge to over 1.1 million, up from 740k yesterday! (lemmy.world)

You know what I don't miss? Awards.
Firstly, they de-valued upvotes and the equality that every user's opinion had before they were introduced....
You get to play one videogame for the first time again. What you picking?
Okay. If you could play any videogame again for the first time, what would it be?
Where's an appropriate place to announce new magazines on kbin?
Edit: with Mintyytea's help, I figured out how to do it:...
After criticizing the reddit admins I find all my posts and comments stuck in the mod queue forever, on any sub. even though I have thousands of karma on the account. anyone else?
/kbin server update - or how the server didn't blow up
