Statcounter reports that Windows 11 continues to lose its market share for the second month in a row. Windows 10, meanwhile, is gaining more users and is now back above the 70% mark.
I'll try again once Nvidia's 555 series drivers are released which should support explicit sync. Right now it's too unstable under Wayland even though I gave it a shot once KDE Plasma 6 released.
Tried Wayland to see if it was any better on my 1080 Ti and while there's been huge improvements, it's still not quite stable enough yet. I get weird stretching issues with tooltips on the panel, and Steam usually displays a glitchy mess on the store page. It's flawless under X though.
Driver quirks aside, the only real issue I've encountered with Plasma 6 so far is the hot corner functionality has become temperamental and usually goes off multiple times at once. SDDM also has a low frame rate now too.
All in all though, this update has been pretty smooth, all things considered. I can't wait to see what we get in future releases now that the groundwork has been laid down.
Curiosity at first after it was mentioned a few times by others. This was back in 2007, and I've been off and on with it over the years and being pleasantly surprised with the amount of progress it had made each time I used it.
I switched for good when I built my new PC last year. I didn't actually mind Windows until it began to get filled with crapware, which has really gotten out of control more recently. It's just as well that Proton has eliminated the last reason I needed to use it.
I Downloaded it myself and have about 5-10fps in the main menu on a RTX3090 64GB , 3950X. Most of the reviews say the same. Colossal Order are suggesting you should play on very low detail. I was a massive fan of the original having played Sim City since 1993 but I cant even get into this. It shouldnt have been released so...
It's too bad. I'm hoping the devs don't give up on it and get it fixed because other than the horrific performance issues, the potential is there for it to be a worthy follow-up to the first game. Though the modding situation also doesn't help things...
I just can't buy it in its current state. I'll stick to modded C:S1 in the meantime.
Every time I try to upvote or boost something, there's a solid 20% chance it'll link to an Error page titled "Log in". That percentage seems to increase the longer I've had my Kbin tab open without refreshing it....
I've had a similar experience. Only thing I can add is that more rarely even refreshing the page doesn't resolve running into an error page when voting on some comments. However, each time I was able to visit the user's profile and vote from there without issue.
For some reason I had trouble with the 'See in Play Store' button because it would only result in a 'Something went wrong' message when pressing it. Managed to get it to work by long pressing the button and selecting 'Open in external app' instead. Now I have it pre-registered.
Been here since the blackouts started and it feels much more chill here.
Just pulled the plug on my 8 year old account as soon as Sync stopped working. I had already made my decision a few days ago once mods were being forcibly removed so this was merely a formality. It was still a sombre feeling watching it burn, but I'm glad that I can move on now.
Anyway, welcome and here's to a new era without corporate enshittification.
I still used my V30 as my daily driver until about a month ago. Only switched finally because the software was so out of date and it wasn't worth rooting it.
Hardware-wise, it was still working no problem. The battery didn't have the capacity it once did, but would still last a day. Not bad for being over 5 years old.
Dunno if too many people remembered the bootlooping issues of the G4, V10 and Nexus 5X and if that contributed to LG exiting the market.
Ah yep that image retention was awful on their IPS displays. I've only seen worse on a Dell Latitude E7240, if that can be believed.
I used a G5 before my V30 and there was that and the GPS being useless on it. I even bent the GPS pins back into place to give them better contact and while that improved things, it was still rubbish.
The modules were interesting even if they were gimmicky and flopped hard. It helped when the charging port began to have issues, since I could just replace the chin to fix it. It was still a cool phone though. It felt like LG were the only ones still trying to innovate there, even if they often missed the mark.
Interested in getting a feel for what people may be likely to do IF reddit reverses their decision regarding API access, or reduces access fees to a reasonable level and 3rd party apps remain sustainable....
Nothing will change my decision now. The trust is permanently broken and the damage is irreversible.
They've shown that they won't hesitate to kick out mods at a whim even when it goes against the community's wishes. Even if the API changes are walked back, Spez resigns and the company apologises, that's no longer enough to undo what they've destroyed. Reddit is done.
I was originally going to simply delete my Reddit account on the 30th. After seeing the farce unravel, I'm also going to nuke all content I've created on that platform at the same time. Scorched earth seems to be the only answer now and it's the least I can do after the continued disrespect they've shown to their users, mods and especially the third party app devs. They're nothing without the communities and the content that they've produced.
It looks so bulky and unwieldy, and at first glance it seems like it takes some getting used to with the analog sticks being at the top.
But I'll agree as a Wii U owner that the thing is just so comfortable to use. It's much lighter than it looks too, and I was able to adapt to the analog stick placement immediately, as if I had always been using it.
Speaking of the battery, mine barely holds a charge anymore. I wouldn't mind doing something about that.
Yikes! That will only render the Reddit self-sabotage to be irreversible. It really has become morbidly entertaining watching Spez's overly fragile ego result in that site burning itself to the ground in such spectacular fashion over the last few days. If it wasn't for the third party app devs getting screwed over financially in the process after the rug was pulled from under them.
This place looks to be a silver lining to this whole saga at least. It definitely feels more homely over here with its throwbacks to how forums used to be. It feels like people can actually have a proper conversation again.

The official app is hot garbage
On a whim I decided to give the official app a try because a lot of people will be forced to use it, if they decide to stay on Reddit....
