The true tragedy is when you get all the social signals and you have the thought “man I wish I could just date multiple people at the same time” and it doesn’t occur to you to try that because… ???

Now I’m old and have to work 1 1/2 full time jobs to pay my bills, so. That won’t be happening.

Toot! for iOS. It lets you add servers you don’t have an account on, and then you can interact easily on that server with any server’s account you’re logged into. I have 2-3 accounts based on different things I’m interested in so my followers don’t get a complete mishmash from me if they don’t want to, and this setup makes it so easy for me to interact and browse as if it’s all the same account.

Ahhhh I have a flannel I live in when I teach, they’re so comfy and cute! (I teach design/web dev classes at a university in the evening). I’ve never heard of a football kit before but I think I got the idea from a quick search. I’m not on Matrix at the moment, I’m usually more a forum person because of my schedule 😁

Rainbow punk is probably the best way I can think of to describe it. If it’s candy colored, glittery, or black (because black helps colors pop) I’m all over it. I recently got a pair of magnetic glasses covers that is printed to look like a slice of watermelon, and it’s my favorite because I have pink hair at the moment and between that and the deep green lipstick I have I can get an awesome watermelon look going. I’m a big fan of mixing patterns and textures as well. I love figuring out how to get a good alt look going that makes people smile. 😁

Magic blanket but mug is a very close second. I have everything about me solved except for temperature regulation issues. Plus I could be always snuggly!

I PASSED MY COURSE! Time to graduate!

I was sooo worried I wasn't going to make it with my rushed final essay but I did it with a 75% mark! Maybe my course staff are just forgiving? I read the feedback and there were a lot of good points where I could have changed or expanded upon things...It doesn't matter now because I'm graduating in a month. IT'S HAPPENING! I...

That’s awesome! I did studio art and ended up being a web designer. 😁 My celebrations are usually things like a super cozy night playing games, making a really special tea, or going for a hike in a neat place, so I get not having social plans lol.

Bidding wars in houses suck, but they make some sense, since it’s an asset you own that could appreciate, and also that you can sell later to recoup costs. It’s also one upfront lump sum. But good god there need to be protections on rentals. Buying a house is somewhat of a luxury. Having a place to live is not, especially with jobs forcing people back into the office in high cost of living cities. At minimum, if bidding wars are going to continue, they can’t be per month. But honestly, if you’re a landlord, it’s your job to set a price in line with the market and review applications for good tenants. Allowing bids over asking is just greedy and lazy.

At some point, we need to start seeing the choice to be a landlord for what it is - public service. People need homes, you provide them. If you can’t do that in a fair and equitable way, it’s not the right choice for you, same as you wouldn’t go into teaching for the money. I’d like to see some reasonable guardrails put up for the rental market to help get there.

Welcome CrystalIntrospect! I love intuitive reading, it’s definitely my favorite. I haven’t gotten any oracle decks yet though. I’ll check some of these out!

Welcome Suedeltica! I love reading about other’s approaches and philosophies too. The different perspectives really help me out. :D I don’t identify with any particular religion, but I do like some of the nature-focused perspectives of Wicca, so I’m thinking of learning a bit more just to be more familiar with the ideas. I noped out of Catholicism pretty hard as a preteen - it just wasn’t for me, no judgement if it’s your jam - but the unfortunate effect of that was I closed myself off to learning about any religions as a result. I might see if one of the universities has an intro to religion class in their offerings.

Hi! I’m MrsEaves, and I’ve been reading tarot casually for myself for about 5 years. I’m a moderator here because this didn’t exist when I moved over from Reddit, and I thought it should. I take a SASSwitch perspective to tarot, and my favorite deck right now is the Women of Science tarot. I also have two bunnies, two cats, and two dogs.

MrsEaves,

Ahhh, welcome danymason! It’s great to meet you. 😁

The first thing I would say to myself is if the Rider-Waite deck isn’t working for you, it’s okay to start elsewhere - that kept me from learning and really getting into it for years. So you’re already off to a great start by getting a deck that you are interested in! If it doesn’t work out for some reason, try to identify why and see if you can find or try a different deck. Personally, I need a lot of detail in my deck art - the minimalist style is beautiful, but I don’t have enough visual cues to help me remember the meanings and read intuitively.

The second thing I would say to myself is to read for me and my own decisions, not to cope with the decisions of others that are out of my control. Unfortunately, my start with tarot was part of coping with the uncertainty of a painful romantic situation. In the end, it turned out fine, but it was better to talk directly to the people involved, and where I was guessing or using tarot, that was a sign I wasn’t getting the communication I needed. It sounds like you’re in a good place, but I saw a lot of people on Reddit justify some really questionable sounding relationship dynamics using tarot, and that’s definitely something to watch for and be aware of.

Third - reading about each card is great, this is the way I do it too! What I do is I pull each card, and think of how it relates to my life and the gut feeling it gives me. Sometimes I know the general meaning and it clicks right away, and sometimes I need to look it up. Usually, a story kind of jumps out at me that connects the themes, and changes what aspects of the card I focus on. It’s kind of like looking for the details in a fuzzy picture, and then suddenly understanding the picture for what it is. So I would add that it’s good to focus on each card, but also to review the story that connects all the cards together in the spread. 😁

Ooooh, I hadn’t thought about a tray table. That’s a great idea - I read with my bunnies, and as sweet as they are and as much as I love the vibe with them around, they will nibble my cards if I’m not careful. I’ll have to try the meditation too - I’ve been feeling like my readings could use some new energy, so that would be a great way to get my mind thinking in a different way!

I love the candle idea! This sounds lovely. :)

Ugh, that is a huge bummer. That said, you’re headed north? If you’ll be anywhere near Malden I can 10000% recommend Crying Thaiger. At this point I would drive out of my way to get their food if I had to.

I’m so jealous! Do those shelves have lighting? The cacti look so happy!

MrsEaves,
MrsEaves avatar

Nope! Though I do like hearing a good story, haha. I won’t post the answer in case anyone else wants to guess, but if you want to know it’s easily searchable. :)

MrsEaves,
MrsEaves avatar

Nope! That’s a good guess though considering my recent hobbies. I had a pipe burst earlier this year and ever since I’ve been working to repair the damage in my house. My dad has worked on houses my whole life and I’ve learned a ton from him! It’s nice to be able to stretch the insurance check a bit by doing the hard work on my own.

I have a leak in my roof though, and I’m not looking forward to the quote for that because my roof is old and apparently not well ventilated, so I’ve got moss in my shingles now. That’s something I can’t do on my own.

MrsEaves,
MrsEaves avatar

It does! I ended up figuring it out later. I just was swiping in the wrong area/not quite the right way :)

I have a yard bunny I nicknamed Peanut Butter who returns every year and I just saw him pop up again this week. I swear this comic was based on him. Original link here to support the artist.

  • Nostalgia pick: Pokémon Gold Version, Game Boy Color. There is no matching the magic of your neighbor telling you they stuffed all of Kanto into Johto, you telling him he’s full of shit, there’s no way they could do that, and then finding out you were wrong. Everything was word of mouth back then.
  • Modern pick: Persona 4 Golden. All the Persona games are amazing, and I love 5, but 4 has more of a tight-knit friend group, feel-good vibe - plus one of the most heart-wrenching twists/game sequences I’ve played. Though 5 is a very close runner up for UI and the way it uses time to build drama/tension for the turning point in the story.
  • Indie pick: Donut County. So many hilarious dialogue and gameplay details, some great but not too challenging puzzles, and it’s just plain satisfying to suck up progressively larger items until everything is gone. Very chill and short, perfect for my tired adult brain these days.
  • Rhythm pick: Dance Dance Revolution / Stepmania. DDR Extreme 2 for the PS2 was my main game, but the hype around DDR in its heyday, especially in arcades, was unmatched. It’s fun, challenging, and excellent exercise if you’re not using the bar, which I never did. I have a custom built pad at home that one of my pets nibbled and is in need of repair, and barring that I’d still be playing today.
  • Honorable mentions: Phoenix Wright (all), Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokémon (all), Guitar Hero, Fitness Boxing, BIT.TRIP Runner, Coffee Talk.

Refashioning fast fashion! Why?

  1. I own it since 2013 (when 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target collection was released.)
  2. I LOVE the cut. Haven’t seen anything else that fit me this great, especially around the shoulders.
  3. I’m skilled enough to make the alterations I want.

For now, I’m marking the changes and pinning the added pieces with temporary fabrics.
No way I’m letting this one go to landfill; it’s going to be fantastic!

MrsEaves,

@miramusank It probably reads differently in real life, but if the yellow fabric is your temporary fabric, I didn’t even realize it! The splash of color looks awesome with the pattern, it’s honestly right up my alley. Definitely way too good for the garbage!
