Threads do not do posts. They do twits, or what is called on kbin microblogs. As such Lemmy can not be affected and kbin can only be affected in the microblog section.
This is meant both in a general conversation how’s your day been and a i hope y’all have better cyber security than them because shit is fucked right now over there.
Iv seen posts with people substituting rape with r@pe. Other than bypassing filters I can’t see a reason to censor just 1 letter that doesn’t actually censor the word? I see if you fully censor the word, but even still context completely ruins the censorship.
But why? I mean there are bad things in our lives. War, for example, should we forbid using the word war as well? What is the logic here, I am genuinely confused by this.
We are censoring that might make somebody uncomfortable now? What about satanism, war, murder, hell, bleeding, communism … I am sure these words make some people uncomfortable. Should they be censored too? What a nonsense!
Well, Apple can't/won't do it (give iMessage messages). I think What's up can't/won't either, but not sure. It just shows dedication to make private conversation really private.

First, it is not just lemmy, it is the fediverse (replying to you from kbin.social - my preferred cup of tea). Second, I see that the mostly good people/posters are leaving Reddit, I do not see, for example, personal attacks when people disagree here in fediverse, I see no removed/moderated comments or posts. I am sure it happens here too, it is just so rare… it reminds me of the days of mass migration from digg. So, at least for now I think this is great, and it separates people who are ready to stand for principles from the rest. Welcome.

why are words like Rape and fuck only censored with one letter being omitted?
