It’s almost Black Friday, and Matt Corey gathered indie developers to organize an app sale that runs from November 24 to November 28th, 2023. Corey, the maker of Bills to Budget, Signals, and other apps that are part of the sale, has put together a collection of over 300 apps that will be offered at a discount tomorrow

A threat actor abuses Google Ads to distribute malicious CPU-Z app from fake Windows news site, Malwarebytes reports (www.malwarebytes.com)

The malicious ad is for CPU-Z, a popular utility for Windows users that want to troubleshoot their processor and other computer hardware details. The advertiser shows as Scott Cooper and is likely a compromised or fake identity, the report says.

Does anyone actually successfully use OSMAnd or Organic Maps for navigation consistently?

I ask because I have tried both and neither consistently find destinations I need, and when they do, they don’t route me there in the fastest or most efficient way possible. My first experience with Organic Maps, for instance, tried to turn what was usually a 4 hour drive into a nearly 6 hour drive. I used Google Maps to get...

It works fine for where I am but using a privacy friendly alternative is going to come with downsides, as it depends heavily on crowd sourced data.

Searching sucks big time for me too, as locations are not written in english here, you have to assume what the english transliteration might be. I just start with short close matches, and that usually works out after a little bit of digging. Google maps usually gives out most searched locations right away and often that's you're looking after.

We can only hope It will get better as more people start using it

I could understand if this was happening with identical twins, but siblings is not a good outlook. I believe (what Google calls themselves nowadays) will fix this issue shortly.

With the anti-trust trial going on, I think this may be an attempt to get some hype to drown out some of the bad allegations. Like last week they were called out for changing search queries. I hope they follow through but i'm not sure.
