Is it just me or does the Lemmy community actively ignoring the existence of kbin? I see a lot of posts explicitly mentioning Lemmy users but only posts from kbinners mention both platforms.

@GeekFTW @pmtriste yeah at the moment I'm only waiting for the api to come out. This will spawn lots of good mobile clients. Artemis so far is pretty good for its early stage and the scrape yourself approach but an api is much more efficient and a much lower entry point for devs.
But in the end I'm happy we even have these options!

@MoogleMaestro I hope so

Kbin is by far not a finished product. Please do not forget this. Ernest is working super hard on kbin but he is literally ONE MAN running all of kbin with a little bit of external help.

No. Kbin is the same everywhere. Some things are just in slightly different positions.

Is there any indication for edited comments?

I was looking at a comment I left earlier today (several hours earlier) and realized I made a typo, and went to edit it. I'm used to Reddit putting a little asterisk next to the comment's timestamp to indicate that it was edited, but I'm not seeing anything like this on Kbin. Is this something that's tracked somewhere for users...

Semmelstulle,

I for example almost always append an "Edit:" note even though it initially is Reddiquette not Fediquette. Also you could use Mastodon for kbin content, it shows edit notes and edit histories

Tears of the Kingdom on Ryujinx but you nainly focus on the Underground part?

Semmelstulle,

Well the Wikipedia dude is about to pull that up but we also still have kbin.

Lemmy.ml is blocking all requests from /kbin Instances (kbin.social)

I discovered yesterday evening that Lemmy.ml is blocking all inbound ActivityPub requests from /kbin instances. Specifically, a 403 'access denied' is returned when the user agent contains "kbinBot" anywhere in the string. This has been causing a cascade of failures with federation for many server owners, flooding the message...

Semmelstulle,
Semmelstulle avatar

I think they're scared by the growth of kbin haha

No but for real, Federation is about being open in my opinion. We have modlogs, everything. Then please provide information about why you exclude x from doing y.

I've been boycotting Reddit for three weeks so far but I did come back today. I deleted my content and commented about a possible GDPR (DSGVO in German) lawsuit if they bring back my content. I recorded my user page pre deletion, while deletion and after deletion. I have the exact date and time in the global menu so there is no fracking around from Reddit. I'll happily contact the German agency responsible for GDPR complaints.

How is the second dude on the lever not smiling for getting double the fun?

Semmelstulle,

I think it might be because there is no "this is a Lemmy domain" in the HTML header and thus the Jebora Dev needs to register every website it can open manually and separately.

Oh woh. Well I agree on Reddit being in need of making a profit. I uderstand he found Reddit and does not want it to die. But the problem is the "fuck you" price. I would be totally fine to pay Reddit Premium to keep using 3rd party apps. I would have been okay with paying 40 bucks a month instead of 20 to the 3rd party app so the dev can pay the API fees.
But what u/spez is constantly doing and showing is driving me away from being nice and respectful to him. He blackmails 3rd party devs, he falsely accuses them of saying things that never happened. If he just said "I do now want 3rd party apps anymore" I'd be frustrated but I'd forgive and forget. At this point u/spez just seems to fight with the mindset of a preschooler against the community.
Oh and he is sympathizing with Musk and his moderation and way to run a company. These two things already made me say FUCK NO to Twitter.

Edit: he also fucked with long time, loyal super moderators

Yeah Reddit dying would be a very bad thing. I do not like the actions of its CEO but the content is extremely helpful. There is so much knowledge archived on Reddit.

And about the API Pricing I'd argue it would be very similar to YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Netflix, ...
If a user pays monthly for premium, the company will get more money than it would get from that user relying on ads. And running an API costs you nothing extra since you need one anyway, when you want to have any App or website that is written somewhat well.

Ngl I thought you were sarcastic at first but I thank you for the kind of reply you gave. More often than not threads like this get heated very quickly 👍

Ich finde die Gürtel von Iredaily top. Ist wohl ein Berliner Modestartup, bisher war ich damit zufrieden.

Well I guess it is like with every other social media. I think the most private you can be while using social media is using it in your browser only. There you can make use of strict content blocking and manipulate websites to work around login walls. For posting stuff I always recommend to strip out any metadata from files beforehand and really only include in your posts what's necessary.
The threadiverse and fediverse only differ in being mostly public, scraping stuff would be easy. From what I believe, trashing and creating accounts all the time will not only cost you lots of convenience but would also make you gain almost no extra privacy.

Ich mach das mal nachher. Shreddit sollte noch ein paar Tage funktionieren
