And as imagination bodies forth
The forms of things unknown, the poet's pen
Turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothing
A local habitation and a name.

That would be a pity -personally I think downvotes, for all they can be abused, are a necessary counterpart to upvotes if you’re going to have a voting system at all. “All attention is good attention” doesn’t work well in real life or online.

Now if a change was made to allow individual magazines to choose upvotes+downvotes, only upvotes or none at all, I think there’s a better case for that - let people try different systems for different circumstances,

Short sighted behavior is hardly limited to capitalist enterprises, though.

Why does it feel like we're at a point where every social media + other digital media are making shitty decisions and falling apart?

I mean there's Reddit ofc, as well as Twitter in its entirety, Discord is implementing some dumb updates, there are issues with Tumblr as well as everything to do with Meta, and I'm sure there are plenty more (and I haven't even touched other digital media, for example the Sims). Why is it all happening in the span of about a...

How is Stable Diffusion connected to bad/short term orientated social media company policy changes? The ChatGPT connection I understand, even if I don’t think it’s the root cause. (Interest rate increases I think are more fundamental, even if AI is cited by companies as an influence on their choices.)

Have you heard of The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi? I think it meets your criteria well. Takes place in the far future of our solar system with several very different posthuman social/technological systems, has a fun writing style as long as you’re willing to engage your brain.

Great band. A pity I only found out about them after some of the key original members left - would love to see them perform live.

On lemmy.world, there is a newcommunties sub that serves a similar function: m/newcommunities@lemmy.world

Wish I could find someone with your mindset locally. Just moved to a new city and it’s been easy to find DND campaigns advertised, incredibly hard to find anything else.

Marigold by Caligula’s Horse. Progressive metal/rock (clean vocals). Beautiful melodic sensibility and great riffs.

+1 for Siouxsie and the Banshees. Their discography has been so much to go through. Lands End is my personal favorite from Tinderbox.

There was actually a meetup local to me where people would sing sea shanties as a group - someone would get up to perform to the verse, the audience would sing the chorus. We had a “hymnal” of about 40 sea shanties. Wellerman was one of the songs that by tradition was sung every time.

Welcome to /m/tea!

I created this magazine as a space for all tea lovers, as well as those new to the hobby, to discuss anything they wish about the drink, from growing to preparation to consumption. Whether you want to spread the word about a favorite vendor or grower of yours, post a picture of your tea stash, or just share what you're drinking...

Not a fix to it being easier to access, but you can see a list of your subscribed magazines if you go into settings, there’s a tab for subscriptions.

Agree, it makes navigation a lot more intuitive. In terms of settings that could be made default, perhaps turn on reply notification as a default as well.

I think the listing of magazines is a random selection.

No surprise that this was released after Abobe added generative fill to photoshop. I think it’s good that the current AI image generators seemed focused on different use cases/innovating along different paths, I think it will lead to more innovation as a whole.
