A pic of me just browsing the @ArtemisApp magazine on Artemis.

We just coded up the last bits for the first limited release. Feeling like a real app! ( support planned for next month).

What we have in dev build:

  1. Browse Home or the magazine of your choice
  2. See images and open links (in app)
  3. Login or browse anonymously
  4. See comments (collapse threads at your will)
  5. Vote and boost 🚀

Huge thanks to our first volounteer dev for helping w some of these! (What’s ur @ here lol?) We’re also getting an Android dev involve to help w giving as much love and care.

Open sourcing will come once we get the codebase in a good place. Kitchen gets a bit messy this early 👩‍🍳

/kbin - Just Reddit Things update

Hey, once again, I welcome the newcomers. It's great to see new faces here :) It seems that we've managed to resolve the server issue. Unfortunately, I had to temporarily disable certain features, such as content auto-refresh. It will be restored at the beginning of next week after the infrastructure change, so you'll get to...

/kbin - Sunny June Announcement

Hi everyone, it seems that we have quite a gathering here, and many of you I haven't had the chance to greet yet :) As some of you may know, /kbin is still in its early stages of development. Every day, improvements and new features are being worked on. Unfortunately, this may result in occasional short downtimes. However, the...

Thank you so much for all your hard work! /kbin is what I needed to make the switch to the Fediverse for link aggregation. I looked at Lemmy a while back and for whatever reason, it wasn’t quite a fit for me. Pulling in Mastodon content automatically and threading it is one of my favorite features. Looking forward to the login timeout and upvote/favorite changes!

Seeing some push back here on the idea of confusing things with more terms than just "fediverse". I get that. The problem is that that cat is very much out of the bag. Surely, for the vast majority of people that have any awareness of the fediverse, they think it's just Mastodon.

Either way, "Mastodon" is a much larger "brand" than "fediverse" or anything else on the fediverse. So trying to get some conceptual branding going makes sense. It make things more clear, as the idea of the fediverse itself is kinda fuzzy and complex and probably best left out at the beginning. It's a little bit like the matrix, you have to see it with your own eyes, IMO.

So, my lame contribution ...

Threadiverse!: "Social media, but woven into threads, like Reddit or Forums, not like the chaos of Twitter, but all on the Fediverse so you can find anyone else doing anything else too."

Tell you what we need: r/HumansBeingBros needs to migrate over here, for great justice

CheshireSnake,

r/mademesmile is also a pretty nice sub. But yeah, it'd be great to see humansbeingbros here.

I've been thinking about it lately, and I even wanted to change it quickly, but it turns out it's not easy, and I wouldn't want to make such a big change hastily. It will have to wait a bit because I have a queue of critical tasks, and more external matters are diverting my attention. I've also decided to make the placement of the boost/fav entirely configurable by the instance admin.

Honestly, I love the current state, I'm very used to it, and I would like to keep it. At least on my smaller instance. I also have plans for a short interactive tutorial that will briefly explain how the most important features on the website work.

However, I completely understand the arguments that some change is needed. But making it configurable won't take much more time than making it fixed. Downvotes won't be federated.

There is another option worth considering as well: https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/issues/15

Thanks for the feedback!

Barbarian,

Maybe Lemmy/Kbin/both could implement a system with upvotes working as in Lemmy, but also the option to boost a post or comment? I honestly think that'd be the best of both worlds.

Instead of just upvotes/downvotes, it'd be upvotes/downvotes/boosts

vgnbsxl,

Same with kids shows. Sometimes you just need the good and hopeful vibes <3
