Would it even be America without a non-citizen underclass to do all the hard work while their free existence in society is made illegal, justifying oppressive police forces to "deal with the problem"

I recently came across this license, which addresses some of your concerns: https://commonsclause.com/

Also interesting, Apple implemented XMPP in its messaging app way long ago and pulled support a few years back.

When people insist that Apple needs to implement Google's new secure messaging stack for better interoperability with Android, I wonder if they are thinking back to XMPP and saying "Yeah, fooled us once…"

It was the Landsknects that were the problem in this case; in real life they were mercenaries, in civ you have to be playing the Germans to use them.

I can imagine some tweaks to help improve how karma is implemented:

  • Use Bayesan Inference to produce a 'shit/shinola score' for contributors instead simple up/down vote totals

  • Experiment with different recency biases for the score; you can trust that people will change over time

  • Generally figure out what you'll be using karma for and make sure you have a way to measure how well it's working

Seems like it would work particularly well with a sweet pickle, concentrating the vinegar and salt flavors is going to make them really strong, sweetness would help balance it out a bit.

I'd even consider making a custom batch with a lighter seasoning (like summer style fridge cucumbers), so it's more like cucumber chips with vinegar and salt.

Well, that's less wear and tear on the Guillotines when the revolution comes.

So, one of the cool things about the fediverse is that you can follow mastodon accounts from Lemmy or kbin or any other federated site and vice versa. Pick the service that has the UI you want (Mastadon is Twitter like, kbin and Lemmy are Reddit like) and keep an eye on everything!

In Japan, Apple could not get the trademark for 'AirPort' which was their brand name for 802.11 wireless networking before the Wi-Fi Alliance and Wi-Fi Trademark existed. So they rebranded all the Access Point and Radio Cards as 'AirMac'

Tool works great, cleaned my my Reddit and Twitter accounts, it's Kbin and Mastadon for me!

Did you know you can follow mastodon users from kbin and vice versa!? The feediverse is kinda amazing.

This case really feels like a parallel construction case; as in someone got picked up with one or more of these secret documents or copies by a TLA who can't prosecute (CIA or NSA) and they tipped off the FBI.

@lemmy Hi I am planning on joining Lemmy however I was reading about some privacy issues with the platform. I am going to share some of them and what do you think about it?

--Deleted comments remain on the server but hidden to non-admins, the username remains visible

-Deleted account usernames remain visible too

-Anything remains visible on federated servers!

-When you delete your account, media does not get deleted on any server

@KelsonV well, Lemmy is open source so you are free to run your own instance that deletes whatever you want from your own DB. But once it's out there, you can't necessarily un-publish information on the internet…
