Zastanawia mnie odchylenie i zagłówek.

I'm delving into controlling the image (displayed on the screen) at the UEFI level and then the operating system level. But I have lots of questions.

There is GOP (UEFI Graphics Output Protocol).
He appears to be controlling the image right from pressing the POWER button on the computer.
At some point, the graphics card driver takes over.
Is that so? Is there something else going on in between?

So the graphics card is in GOP mode, and then in the mode in which the image is controlled by the graphics card driver?

I am interested in the issue of resolution and refresh rate of the image transmitted by the graphics card to the screen.

How does the GOP control this? Image resolution and refresh rate?
When I turn on the monitor's OSD while in UEFI, it shows 2560x1440 60 Hz.

At some point, probably when switching to the operating system, the screen goes blank for a moment and then comes back with the correct resolution and refresh rate set (2560x1440 165 Hz).

Why does this screen blackout have to happen? Why can't it be smooth?
Why can't it be 2560x1440 165 Hz at the UEFI stage?
Anyway, when I set the system to 2560x1440 60 Hz (which is the same as the OSD says for UEFI), the screen goes out the same way.
So what does this mean? What exactly is the mechanism behind this, at the graphics card level?

Why do I need this knowledge? Out of curiosity...
Because in my case the screen goes off for 6 seconds, it seems like such a long time, it's the monitor's fault, it's just like that, and there are many monitors that just have it like that. But it's minimally problematic, and that's why I'm delving deeper into the topic...

Is it normal for the monitor to change setting (refresh rate) in exactly 6 seconds?
Shouldn't it take less time?

Arch Linux with Cinnamon

This is a monitor with Variable refresh rate
I changed 60 Hz - 165 Hz in Cinnamon System Settings -> Screen.

But I feel it when I turn on the computer, because it changes from the default 60 Hz in the bios/systemd-boot/console to my system 165 Hz. So the startup animation of the transition from the black screen to the Cinnamon desktop does not happen at all before my eyes, because the monitor is still switching the refresh rate (the resolution remains as it should be in the bios/systemd-boot/console).

And when switching between TTY Ctrl+Alt+F2 etc. the same thing, it takes that long and in the background the TTY is already ready.

I dream of setting 165 Hz in the bios/systemd-boot/console.

But in DisplayPort, even setting the system to 60 Hz does not help, something changes anyway.

For HDMI 60 Hz it is smooth, no waiting.

How in web-extenion to detect whether a website supports dark mode and whether it is in dark mode?

Including not only does it automatically switch to dark mode (with color-scheme)), but also is it in dark mode by default, without using color-scheme, without having a light mode?

I want to expand (Firelux type) with such an automatic, effective detector.

I thought that maybe someone had made an effort to detect dark backgrounds, but also light subtitles, detecting everything possible...

Then it occurred to me that there should be a database of sites that have a dark mode and a way to bypass it...
But I'm doing it myself in Firelux, clicking laboriously.

High-functioning autistic people should come out of the shadows.

They should openly say that they are best suited to rule and have the best ideas, i.e. libertarian ones.

This should not be an insult to Korwin or Mentzen that they are autistic (Asperger's), it should be an open advantage, and only such people should be admitted to the party.

pimento64,

Take your meds

rdyoung,

No thanks. I don’t want to be in charge of anything. And we shouldn’t be discriminating against anyone. Autism shows differently in women and men as well as individual to individual. And not all autistics are fit or ready to be in the public eye. If it wasn’t for my father being a salesman I may not be as outgoing as I am and would spend more time being away from people.

Weird bug related to HDMI/DisplayPort and refresh rate and switching between TTYs.

This is what it looks like:
HDMI 60 Hz and I switch from TTY1 (with Cinnamon) to TTY2 - it takes 7 seconds.
HDMI 60 Hz return from TTY2 to TTY1 - takes 1 second.
DisplayPort 60 Hz and I switch from TTY1 (with Cinnamon) to TTY2 - it takes 6 seconds.
DisplayPort 60 Hz return from TTY2 to TTY1 - takes 6 seconds!.

On HDMI, the return takes only a second. And that's how it should always be, right?
Yet every other case lasts 6-7 seconds. That's a ridiculously long time, and there's no reason for it to take that long, is there?

In turn, at higher refresh rates, even HDMI recovery takes 6-7 seconds.
This is also surprising behavior. As if the system/drivers(?) only supported HDMI 60 Hz exactly, but not completely, because switching to TTY2 still takes too long.

What can I do with this? Is it only possible to count on driver updates to improve things?

Dziwny bug, związany z HDMI/DisplayPort i częstotliwością odświeżania i przełączaniem między TTY.

Tak to wygląda:
HDMI 60 Hz i przełączam z TTY1(z Cinnamon), na TTY2 - trwa 7 sekund.
HDMI 60 Hz powrót z TTY2 na TTY1 - trwa 1 sekundę.
DisplayPort 60 Hz i przełączam z TTY1(z Cinnamon), na TTY2 - trwa 6 sekund.
DisplayPort 60 Hz powrót z TTY2 na TTY1 - trwa 6 sekund!.

Na HDMI powrót trwa tylko sekundę. I tak powinno być zawsze, nie?
A jednak każdy inny przypadek trwa 6-7 sekund.

Man will become an inferior creature.

AI will eat human flesh, and it will be pleasing to God.

GuidoMancipioni,

My dick, as the crown of my balls, has the right to perch upon thine lips and mouth piece such that you may suckle freely upon them.

Because it is the crown of my balls, it would therefore be pleasing to me that you would use them in most gentle fashion.

When the suckling of an appropriate timespan has been produced, it will then become the turn of the balls for your tender, nurturing embrace.

Your lips will purse sweetly upon mine bits so tender, and it will be most pleasing to pretty much everyone
