I loved David Eddings as an easy read with a good story. It was my start into reading fantasy. Feist's Magician is another brilliant book and the beginning of a long adventure.
As the fediverse continues to grow, let's reflect on some of the things that we disliked most about posting/lurking on reddit and what we can do differently now that we have a chance to build something new.
Using voting on a post or comment like a yes/no poll. I think we should rather upvote if the comment is interesting, or related to topic and actually reply if we disagree with comment.
That is actually a good question. I must do a little more research on kbin to understand the difference between boost vs upvote better. Some magazines, with memes and images, may need a different approach. Where an upvote could mean that you enjoyed the content. Magazines aimed at discussion would probably be better served if the upvote meant, this is interesting and worth chatting about.
It is early days for me here, so I am still getting a feel for the place, but the reddit habit of simply down voting an unpopular opinion without any context is a bad one. It does not further discussion and can sometimes exclude valid thoughts.
Looks interesting. It always amazes me how little of the universe we have actually looked at closely. Sucha wide view should give the astromers many targets for in depth study.
I am in the process of preparing our server world for migration to 1.20 and thought I would share my experience with MCA Selector so far. A youtube video from Pixelriffs a few years ago pointed me in this direction....
Our first computer was an IBM, and the first pc game that i remember is called Kindergarten, i wish i remembered more about it though, i would love to watch on youtube and get a nostalgia boost haha
My first pc was a 286 sprouting an amazing 1mb of ram with cga graphics on an amber screen. Games like Leaderboard Golf, Police Quest, Leasure suite larry and so on were played. The quest games were probably our first serious PC games I had a Commodore 64 for more arcade style stuff. Back then it had better sound and graphics.
Awesome. My first game memory was a game called Klignons, that run on a Sperry mainframe. My father had to keep me busy while he worked overtime. It did have a green screen. Early 80s if I recall. I found a .net c# port of it a few years ago and even tried to implement it in Turbo Pascal in high school.
The weather has been nasty in the Western Cape over the last few weeks. So time to sort through some old ride images and do some maintenance on the bikes this weekend.
We better go there quickly. Dr Beckey's latest news video comments on a paper that suggests it may go nova in the next 100 years. So in real time, it may have exploded already and we don't know about it yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QgLwpuDGhI&t=415s (not sure how url linking works yet, hope this works correctly)

I have never read a book recreationally and I love fiction.
Which book would you recommend me as my first ever book?

What were some "bad habits" on reddit that we should try to avoid bringing over here?
