Same! I lurked a lot on Reddit because even trivial comments felt like they’d get picked at (or more often just not result in additional conversation). Here I feel much more comfortable typing and not second guessing. Feels good.
If I understand correctly, your content on the fediverse is already public (DM’s, posts, etc.). So that data is already collectable. What Threads / Meta can’t get is the rest of the info above in the original post, and tie that to you.

Pick any facet of life at all… there will always be many people “ahead” and many people “behind” where you are. I’m not sure where you live, but at least in the US there is (IMHO) an unhealthy focus on social status competition within peer groups. Fuck that. Ask yourself if YOU personally are “ahead” or “behind” where you were yesterday, last year, etc. But even then please don’t beat yourself up… be patient and have compassion for yourself.

Ok interesting. I need to read up more on it, I wonder what benefit Meta gets from building on or integrating with AP. Like a short term image / branding thing, or a longer play because there is some fear of what the fediverse could turn into without them.

@D@kbin.social YES! Giving yourself compassion and having patience with yourself is really hard, I struggle with that too. I’ve heard people say treat yourself like you treat others, cause I am usually way more understanding of others than I am myself. It’s not as easy as simply thinking that and it becomes reality, but it is helpful for me to remember and come back to.
