I've kept my pseudo from reddit which I had for 14 years and use on many other forums and websites as well. I know it makes me very easy to doxx but I don't care, I like it and it has become almost part of my identity (however pathetic that might sound).
I believe it's because the big first wave of migration from reddit has settled down and cloudfare protection has been turned off. This makes it a lot easier and faster for everyone.
Android is my favorite currently, but when I was growing up it was Symbian, comparing it to java it was miles ahead with way more advanced capabilities!
My first "OS" growing up was an old black analog telephone with a ring dial. I got my first mobile phone when I was about 20 years old and it was a simple Samsung with black and white 1" screen and an antenna that popped out. I had my first smartphone many years later.
I adopted a street cat from my local refuge 3 years ago and he's still hissing or clawing at me from time to time. But I love him, and sometimes he cuddles in bed with us so I guess it's something.

It’s the latest example of a social media site making a critical mistake: users aren’t there for the services, they’re there for the community. Building barriers to access...
This was an interesting read, thanks for sharing. Let's just hope the blackout of main subreddits will last forever. Two days accomplishes nearly nothing. A protest or even a revolution should only end when the leaders capitulate, die or actually start listening to their people and works things up together.
This is just a reiteration of a comment I left on an earlier, probably more useful article, but I’m posting as its own article for visibility. I hope it can help make sense of the fediverse to at least a few more of my fellow migrants....
Thanks for the explanation, this was useful but I still can't grasp how to see posts or articles from other instances in the fediverse. Is it through tags? How exactly similar content created on lemmy.world for example can appear on a magazine devoted to the same topic over here?
Thanks, but I was asking as a creator of a magazine, I would like it to be populated by posts from other instances who already have a community or magazine relevant to the one I created here. How do I do that?
I find having to browse to the bottom of the page to leave a root comment actually quite nice, it kinds of encourage to read what was already written, thus participating more and avoid duplicates.
It’s disappointing to see some of the larger subreddits going public with a ‘what’s the point?’ tone. Most are staying private, but some aren’t. As if Reddit doesn’t exist solely because of its user generated content. If enough subs permanently shut down, they’ll be forced to reconsider their API position. Social...
r/Switzerland also polled its users to see what they wanted, in a typical Swiss way (we Swiss people get to vote on various subjects 4 times a year, including changes to the constitution, new laws and many other things)
And then have no activity in them. Not quite sure why this is happening, is it power hungry idiots thinking if I make fifty magazines, maybe one will be popular?...
Do they really? I guess I must have setup wrong tags as on the magazine I created so far no microblog has appeared. I thought maybe it was because of the cloudfare protection which seems to also block posts from other federated sites such as lemmy instances.
Hello, I'm very new to this and I thought it would be clever to create magazines of what I liked on reddit before anybody else. But I'm in over my head, I've never moderated anything, I don't understand the microblog and hashtags (never had a twitter or mastondon account). So I would like to delete the magazines I've created (3)...
Ok, thank you very much for your answer. Maybe if people come and join I will had the time by then to actually learn how kbin.social and the fediverse work.
Won't this require a major boost in staff size, thus reducing reducing even more the profits? And believe me if they hand over giants subs to randoms power hungry users reddit will go quickly to the hate and far right end.
Did you reuse your Reddit name or create a new one?
I originally went with the same name but have been using this one now since it's new and the idea of starting fresh appeals to me....
Looks like federation is working again!
I just saw some posts from beehaw.org and lemmy.world, looks like we're back in business!

Anyone here more versed in the Fediverse who could help me add some tags so the microblog section auto populates from Mastodon?

I think we should (politely) message major hobby subreddits that went public to go private again. It's important to continue the protest.
