This is better than paint and posts but I remember when they put down concrete bariers protecting the bike lanes, further west of there, cars kept crashing into the barriers and that pushed the barriers into the bike lane itself. Whatever the perminant solution ends up being needs to accomidate for crazy drivers doing crazy...
