Poll: Have you ever run the command "rm -rf /" as a root user on your #Linux, #FreeBSD (or *BSD), #macOS, or #Unix system? Please share if you have and how it happened. Let's be honest. Please boost for reach. TIA.
@nixCraft my linux professor demonstrated it in a virtualbox for the class and we learned it's more difficult than expected, you had to add --no-preserve-root, and it would work. nothing crazy would happen to start off with, except for the fact that no commands would work (because of the fact /bin/bash was removed). it stopped working once he restarted it
@hariette how are you going about making this app? is the kbin api available to the public? cause if so i wanna take a crack at designing my own kbin/lemmy/mastodon app :3
im incredibly excited to be able to make our own apps for kbin. ive never made an app at all, but im excited to start my journey by making an android client for this app. it will use material you and try to replicate the feel of baconreader - the app i used for the red guy. thanks ernest for everything you do!!
i think it would be nice if where #kbin says the magazine/community, it should also have the server attached, like instead of "technology" it should be "technology@beehaw.org"
unless it's actually combing all of those communities, im not entirely sure.
hey guys! i love kbin, but i don't like how there isn't an app. that's inspired me to start working on a client for kbin called basket. this client will be designed using the Material You design language for android, and will feature some of my favorite features from other apps, such as kbin....
WOW i just changed some settings in #kbin and it looks SO much cleaner now! rounded corners+compact view has made the site looks so much more friendly. thanks ernest!!
What should individual communities on Lemmy be called?
Reddit has subreddits. What does Lemmy go with?...
When you get a message from your boss saying the office AC broke so the team building got cancelled and you have to work from home whole next week. (lemmy.world)
Rule.
excited for the kbin api to release!!
