It appears that Google is proceeding with their intention to prohibit ad/tracker blockers in Google Chrome. Since your browser is based on Chromium, will you also implement this change #ArcBrowser, #browsercompany, @Vivaldi , #opera?
#ARC#statistics my proposal on statistical inference for data visualisation wasn’t funded. What happened? Three detailed reviewers ranked it 1st among their reviews, with letter grades two As and one B, two top 10%, one 10-25%. The ARC college of “experts” shifted the score to a letter grade of E, bottom 75-100%, no explanation, no reason. I want to thank the detailed reviewers for believing in the research, and this message is to make public what happened to it in the final stage.
Working now with https://arc.net/ as my default browser on macOS for more than three months, and I already can't live without it. It really reimagined the browser without sacrificing the ecosystem. My fav plugins still work: Vimium (mouseless browsing ftw), Darkreader, Readwise, 1Password. The Browser Company really nails it. So happy to see people who are so dedicated to the little details 🙇 (anyone remembers https://littlebigdetails.com/ ?) #arcbrowser
@publicvoit Because of 1Password? Because I never would have been able to convince the rest on my non-tech savvy family to use a password manager. Which would be much worse. While it's normally a tradeoff between security and convenience, in this case its not. And please don't compare Lastpass with 1Password.
You can decide to not use the cloud. Sure. You also can decide not to use a (surely tapwired) phone. Your choice.
But I'm not clear what this has to do with this post about Arc.
@ro14nd It has nothing to do with the original post. You were mentioning 1Password and I wanted to make sure that you've been warned. It seems to me that you already did the trade-off but with totally different experience, priorities and outcome as mine. Your choice, your passwords, your risk.

Genialne!
Saying good bye to #Arc browser. After several months of trying to use it, it just doesn’t mesh with my brain. The only feature I liked as the slim border, which made presenting a site in a zoom call quite nice. Otherwise, Arc and #Chrome are gone. #Safari and #Firefox remain in. It appears that the Firefox made Multi-account containers add-on will do roughly what Arc profiles did. Bon chance Arc!
@outofcontrol it used to be part of core Firefox but they moved it out because apparently it wasn't popular enough, one of those Mozilla decisions 🤷 I suffered the brief period it wasn't available
@fourstepper I keep reporting it, they keep ignoring it.
Firefox and PrusaSlicer (that one ignores cmd-number shortcuts altogether with Czech keyboard, which is kinda ironic for a Czech company). No other apps do this.
Does anyone have a link to What’s new in #Arc today? Arc seems to think that pointing to only a video where they talk about what’s new is okay. My brain does not think this.
The one thing which I do love about #ArcBrowser is outlined in green in the image below.
The fact that the webpage itself goes ALL THE WAY UP is something I love. Give me ALL the pixels to use for webbiness.
I've gotten used to left-side tabs now in #Edge, #Firefox, and (especially) #Vivaldi. I like them and I'm converted. Vivaldi lets you get really, really thin on the top, but not zero.
I don't like Arc's implementation of tabs and space, it's not my style. That left pane has so much wasted space. It's like it's made for a tablet.
