Tech question:

I've been trying out Browser and Mac and Windows and quite like it. I installed the iOS app today, but can't find where to create a new profile (as opposed to a new space).

Does this exist on Arc Mobile?

The Browser Company, makers of the Arc web browser, released its Windows version today. The company started testing the Windows client in December, and it said that more than 150,000 people have been using it.

I have a book coming out on 1 May. Available as epub, kindle, paperback and hardback.

If you fancy some #epic #fantasy with a #femalecharacter and a #legendary #sword then you might like Fierce.

If you are a #bookreviewer and would like an #ARC then hit me up.

Didn’t think I would, but I’m kind of enjoying at work lately. 🤔 It does a lot of cool stuff I like (like auto PiP for videos).

Now if it would consume a little less energy and add support I might actually have a reason to uninstall Chrome for the first time in years. 🤔

But I doubt that’ll happen. 🤣 They seem too keen on integrating webapps within their main app UI.

I strongly recommend episode 179 of the @ruminate podcast. Such an excellent commentary and explainer about "AI", scraping and generally the state of things regarding original content. Definitely worth a listen (starts at around 14:45).

hold Cmd and click New Tab (or just press Cmd-Opt-V) to search for what you have in Clipboard

I've installed the #Arc #Browser for #Windows and immediately have some mixed feelings. I'm very conservative on tabs and the tab-sidebar feels like a massive waste of space... Despite that, and the disappointment of Chromium engine, it looks and works quite ok... :bulbasaurroll:

Come on. This push to summarize all webpages and written content with is ridiculous.

See this example from Search - in what world is this an adequate summary for an 8,000+ word article that takes 43 minutes to read?

The amount of detail, specificity, narrative, and actual arguments that get lost is mind-boggling.

Everything is just… flattened to the most basic and bare-bones facts.

Every unique part of that piece, every voice, personality - stripped away.

I mean… don’t take my word for it. I know I’m biased as the author.

See for yourself if you think anything of substance was lost in that summary. Here is the original:

And voilà, my own .

I took some stuff from (like the noise texture, the border around the browser and some shortcuts like ⌘+T which now opens a Command modal that allows me to either open a new tab or search the web but also access to some shortcuts or settings)

I also took from (the sidebar tabs that grow on hover)

Huge thanks to the VivalArc Project that made 90% of the job. Kudos to https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/442315 for the solution for bigger favicons (wouldn’t have think this one would be the most difficult one tbh*) and to https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/637324 for the growing on hover.

I’ve made several CSS tweaks to match by own goals but there it is, the perfect browser!

Same page but this time the full address bar is shown (via a keyboard shortcut)
same as before but this time the left tabs bar is hovered and tabs are larger so they show their name
address bar is gone, but a modal is open in the middle of the screen, and offers different actions based on my input "bdx.town"

Climate-crisis deniers sought for exclusive Florida residence. Private ark essential

First they denied it was a thing, then they denied it was happening, now they are looking for a way out. Ironic that this is in Florida - those Arcs really will be needed, but I am sure the Governor will hang on to the glugging end.. Why not go in fast, sell your real estate and go straight for an Arc? $295M will get you a nice bit of plastic and sails.
