Nawet po wprowadzeniu synchronizacji zakładek w wersji mobilnej brakuje tej przeglądarce podstawowych funkcjonalności. Nawet wtyczki nie pomagają niestety. Co z tego, że jest ta synchronizacja, skoro jak coś otworzę na telefonie, to nie ma tego na laptopie? W Safari jest!
The Browser Company, makers of the Arc web browser, released its Windows version today. The company started testing the Windows client in December, and it said that more than 150,000 people have been using it.
@iammannyj Have you tried it and if you have what's your initial thought? I've read about it on countless forum posts but didn't get around to using the browser.
@pheonix - not yet, although I want to. I am a Windows 10 holdout, and general Linux user. There is a workaround, to get it to work, so I will "attempt" to install it later on my backup device. Otherwise, I may just try it out on another Windows 11 PC, or virtualize it. General release is "supposed" to be later on.
Seems like it is not only me. Trying to ditch #ArcBrowser hard. Besides the things Arc doe better but I can get around (better "workspace" handling, better pinned tabs handling, better command bar), the broken tab navigation kills me. It feels more like a random tab picker than a tab navigation.
I'm happy to assist with whatever might be needed to get that sorted.
Niestety świetna przeglądarka #ArcBrowser staje się gorsza. Aby pozyskać fundusze bedą rozwijać narzędzia AI, czyli będą sprzedawać dane swoich użytkowników. Już kilka tygodni temu zrezygnowałem z używania tej przeglądarki właśnie przez ostatnie aktualizacje wprowadzające niepotrzebne narzędzia AI, zamiast uprzyjemnić przeglądanie internetu. Teraz czara goryczy się przelała i usuwam ją całkowicie! Wracam na stałe do #Safari.

I've installed the #Arc#Browser for #Windows and immediately have some mixed feelings. I'm very conservative on tabs and the tab-sidebar feels like a massive waste of space... Despite that, and the disappointment of Chromium engine, it looks and works quite ok... :bulbasaurroll:
@ssamulczyk yeah wish there were more engines. I’m with you on that. For a brief moment, I wondered if Arc would be that company given they were interested in performance and rendering. But they seem to have focused on the AI-ness of everything. Bummer really.
@gurupanguji I consider AI a useless schtick. What I need in a browser is to have an address bar, some tabs and render websites… Firefox team also started mumbling about AI. It looks like except maybe some niche stuff, my beloved Safari is the only one left that’s normal (I’m primary an iPad user) and it’s a pity they stopped making it for Windows…
Kolejne podejście do #arcbrowser na #macOS. Niby to chromium ale podejście do używania całkiem inne. Ciekawe, na ile mi tym razem cierpliwości wystarczy. Używaliście?
@dziq Na iOS/iPadOS nie ma dla mnie nic lepszego niż Safari. Gdybym używał Maca to też bym nie miał dylematu. Na Windows korzystam teraz z Firefoksa, ale to z racji tego, że jest wybór między gównem a mniejszym gównem...
@adrianwiderski@emill1984 Arc Search wypróbowałem chyba na jednym zapytaniu i widząc, że zwrócił kompletną bzdurę, od razu go odinstalowałem. Sidebar Synca nie próbowałem, bo w sumie nie wiem po co mi trzymanie w telefonie otwartych kart z dwóch kompów. 🤷🏻♂️

I was wondering why I got the platform's "Page not found" when I originally followed the Wayback link you shared. I just clicked the link in my instance's vanilla Mastodon client, I didn't know about the = thing.

Yeah, Masto seemed to think the symbol was not part of the URL (and I think any platform that lets its URLs end in the kinds of characters that trip up tools that parse and auto-link links needs to have its engineers do tech support for library patrons or a continuing education class for a few months).

Trying out the #arcbrowser and the first thing I noticed is the massive amount of telemetry it generates and gets blocked by my #pihole. A blocked request every 30 seconds. No way to disable. It is a shame, this browser has some nice features and workspaces with profiles come close to multi-container tabs in Firefox.
Wanted to check out Arc but it won't let you past the account creation screen to just try it out. This breaks the top rule of UX. Don’t stop the user from using your app. #Arc https://arc.net/
@brennansv Oh I don't disagree with you at all. You're missing on some interesting and IMHO useful stuff but your reasons are very valid.
Mostly I went through all the motions back then because I was trying to interview for them (didn't work out). Good chance I would have been put off by the account wall myself otherwise.
@MyLittleMetroid I wonder if it is worth it to them. I could have been using it right now and recommending it instead having this discussion on why to not try it.
Bei Vanilla-GNOME gibt es kein Anwendungsmenü. Für alle, denen auf dem Desktop etwas fehlt, gibt es zahlreiche Möglichkeiten, die Menü-Frage nach eigenem Geschmack zu entscheiden. Zum Beispiel mit dem ArcMenu.
