@cliffwade@janriemer I currently have around 5 fediverse servers running right now.
Mastodon
Peertube
GoToSocial
Mitra (modified version)
Mitra (crypto stuff disabled)
Wordpress + ActivityPub plug-in
I have an account in each of those plus my fosstodon.org account, plus my pixelfed.social account, a Calckey account, a writefreely account, and finally a takahe.social account. Shit, I hope I’m not missing anything 🧐
@janriemer@cliffwade Just today I was reading the new Takahe blog post and thinking "maybe I should set up a Takahe instance for myself". :ablobcatcoffee: I have a focus problem, for sure! :ablobcateyesflip:
I need to switch back to my Rust+Multimedia direction and leave the social mode off for a while. :blobcatsweat:
@cliffwade@janriemer Please notice that as time passes, I keep remembering about more accounts that I have. I think I’m too excited about the fediverse 😅
But most of those accounts are for testing out how it looks like.
@cliffwade
One, currently, but I have it on my soft-to-do list to check out Calckey and PixelFed and whatever the GoodReads replacement is whose name escapes me but I have in a tab here somewhere (rustle, clank...)
@cliffwade I like to focus a little... My principal one for interaction is on ursal.zone, but have some accounts on other mastodon instances for looking for the local timelines for news. And also has a Pixelfed account
@cliffwade wow. I guess I'm an outlier. I have four accounts that I actively use (mostly for the run-off I want to divert from this account), but I also have a pixelfed which sees almost no use
Same for #Peertube. Instances look a little small...but I'm comparing them to Mastodon instance sizes, which...no, not everyone's gonna create videos.
And I'm contemplating migration to #Calckey, but want an instance other than Calckey.social just to load-balance a bit. They look rock-solid, I'm just paranoid.
@cliffwade I have a couple on some larger instances to explore, but those all point back to this account. I don’t boost or comment from those accounts, I come back here. I haven’t logged I to them in a while as I’ve built up a reasonable number of people to follow.
@cliffwade Only 1 so far. I may create a few others though. #PeerTube for hiking/off-roading vids, #FunkWhale for some of my old music, #Calckey for a Masto alternative if feature and UI improvements stay dead in the water.
@cliffwade I've had a lot of issues with instances with broken email verification. I'm not sure if their servers were getting overloaded, if it was a technical glitch, or if they weren't accepting new applications and just didn't make that clear. Whatever the reason, I would like to have a pixelfed/PeerTube account but gave up after several tries
@cliffwade i have 3, mastodon, pixelfed, peertube. I might get rid of pixelfed though, i dont use pixelfed that much since all the posts i can see are mastodon aswell
@cliffwade I mostly use this one, but I also have my own Pleroma instance because I was curious how ActivityPub works on a lower level and I wondered if hosting it on a PowerPC computer is possible. I rarely use it because if it receives too much attention that computer will choke and get unresponsive, but I sometimes use it for longer replies as it doesn't have a five hundred characters limit 😅
@cliffwade I'm using more than 8, mostly in Japanese or other Asian language only Misskey server.
misskey.design and misskey.art are the comfiest one!
Also, just wondering. It seems that people doesn't really mention Misskey despite it was one of the most popular fedi software. I notice that Calckey is more likely to be talked in Western fedi.
@cliffwade The main account I use is this one, while my second account is @queenslight, since I finally found a decent accessible interface for #Misskey called WhaleBird.
I am planning to join a #FunkWhale instance too, for sharing random AI TTS skits I do from time to time.
