“I'm not going to telegraph any additional future actions, but suffice it to say we do hold Iran responsible for the role that they have played with the Houthis and with the other groups in the region that have conducted attacks against US forces and made them aware of that,” says a senior US official.
"I am hopeful that these operations mark an enduring shift in the Biden Administration's approach to Iran." -Mitch McConnell
Please. McConnell supported and protected Donald Trump, who is an agent of Iran's top ally. Trump allowed Iran to restart its nuclear weapons program, and got nothing in return. Trump surrendered US bases in Syria to Russia, and got nothing in return. And still, McConnell supported him.
Mitch McConnell can take a whole goddamned seat on this one.
@barney@w7voa Trump also fucked up a genuine episode of getting the Iranians to cooperate. It's well documented that they were shitting themselves at the time of the Afghanistan & Iraq wars and were ready to deal. And did cooperate with the US in Afghanistan. After all the betrayals they have endured from the US that was a brave move, and now they've been betrayed again. (Idiotic US policy) + (Mullahs) = fucking up a great country and keeping it fucked up, since 1953, at least.
This wasn't some signaling exercise. This was this was designed to disrupt and degrade Houthi military capabilities,” NSC spokesman John Kirby tells reporters on Air Force One.
“"We will make sure we respond to the Houthis if they continue this outrageous behavior along with our allies," President Biden replies to reporters in Pennsylvania.
Asked by a reporter for a response to members of his own party who believe he needed congressional authorization for last night's military strike on the Houthis, President Biden says, "they're wrong."
@w7voa Given the low bar for most congressmen these days I don’t doubt it. I’m not sure how many of them, from either party, really understand the job or the government.
