É urgente fazer mudanças! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Para além das ações coletivas e governamentais que devemos exigir, todos podemos contribuir individualmente. Algumas sugestões:
🌍 Escolher alimentos oriundos de agricultura sustentável e preferencialmente local;
🌍 Optar pela partilha de transporte ou utilização de transportes coletivos;
🌍 Adotar a economia circular comprando artigos em segunda mão, evitando desperdício.

We collect them, sort out the scratched/broken/missing-a-piece eyeglasses, and recycle the parts if we can.
The good eyeglasses are washed and dried, and the lens strength is measured on a lensometer. The eyeglasses are labeled and sorted into boxes for distribution.
The sorting and cleaning is all done by volunteers: Lions & family members, medical students, sorority members, retirees, etc.
Next, optometrists and technicians volunteer for eye clinics
If you plant a tree every day, in a lifetime you will plant a forest.
Our habits make us, #composting is a very rewarding habit, if you do it every day, in a matter of years you will be able to fix your topsoil, #GrowYourOwn plants, and create abundance.
You will also do your part in putting the carbon back into the #soil and help balance the #climate.
I don't have a lot of space, but I've planted 2, plus am tending 2 others who went ahead & planted themselves. 😀 It's their world, after all. I am simply their minion. 🤣 I also have a bush who thinks they're a tree.
@compost I'm so proud of this little guy. Most of the good trees have been cut for construction, and the large hardwoods are a scary thin line. Maybe I can slowly stretch this into a forest that doesn't look like it will tip over
Working bee at the #communitygarden this morning, followed by a #composting workshop. I though I’m relatively knowledgeable about composting but I picked up some good tips.
Does anyone have experience with #humanure processing?
We're weighing the pros and cons of #biogas digestion and typical turn-heavy aerobic #composting. Also thinking about a combination of the two but going from anaerobic to aerobic processing could create more labor.
Challenge: How do I eat a whole pineapple in two days? 🍍 😋
Pure luxury from the Zero Waste Box: a pineapple, lots of grapes and tens of mandarins. It's hard to believe that #supermarkets used to throw this away (which is now banned in France). A #ZeroWaste box in our #supermarket costs 3 EUR for 2 kg of "ugly" or overripe vegetables/fruits. The very ripe pineapple smells delicious!
@liaizon i am pretty sure it's regular plastic with a thin coating of metal that has been applied via vaporization or sputtering. at least the shiny ones.
@grindhold so you think it would be ok to melt down and make into filament? we have an insane amount of it always coming in at MNT where I am working and I want to do something useful with it
