I have a weird fascination with HOA’s, they seem like such a weird thing to me. I have never lived anywhere where there is an HOA and never would but I enjoy hearing stories about them. Are you guys pro or anti HOA’s? Or no opinion? Any good stories?

We don’t get too much changing of the leaves in my neck of the woods but I think fall in Southern California is just gorgeous, assuming we aren’t stuck in a Santa Ana pattern. Balmy days, chilly nights, I just love it! ❤️

My adorable little friend needed babysitting again today. I placed a log in a strategic place as a makeshift baby gate to encourage staying in the ground squirrel corner. In the last picture you can see the injured mom doing her best to keep an eye out 🥺

Learning how to be hawks 😍 I’m not sure what happened to their mother but these three hawks,who hatched in my pine, seemed to be left alone to learn everything about adult hawk life. One of the three decided he would teach the others and it was the most adorable thing to watch. Here they are attentively watching a lesson.

It’s the same two hawks, in the same spot, now they have craned their heads to the left and down in unison, watching their sibling.
Now the hawk siblings have turned to each other as if to discuss what they just saw. It looks like some wheels are turning but they have a ways to go. These two were such bumbles!

Cubby and her kids are a tight-knit group. They show up in silence, they eat and frolic in the water in silence and they they melt back into the darkness in silence. No squabbling, no bullying the runt and no calling the attention of predators. What a nice little family! 😀

Scenic views of Catalina. The Avalon Harbor, a working bell tower, the Wrigley house and the other more rustic side of the Island, Two Harbors, which looks delightful for camping, hiking etc!

A scrubby hillside with patches of cactus with a white tiered bell tower in the center. The tower roof is colorfully tiled with a finial on top and is in the Spanish style of architecture
A large, beautiful mansion sits on top of a hill surrounded by scrub and palms. Built by William Wrigley Jr. circa 1930. Looks to be three stories and in great condition.
Arriving in Two Harbors. Sparkling harbor water a few quaint wood buildings and then wide open space and green rolling hills, lots of palm trees close to shore. This community has much less development than the Avalon side of the island and on our boat ride over this was where all the hikers/backpackers and fishermen were going.

Checking in on the raccoon kiddos. I rarely photograph them anymore because I assume it’s annoying and how many pictures of raccoons eating does one need? 😆 But these four are still a tight knit group and the little runt still lags behind and likes to stay close to mom.

What in the world!? It’s been ages since I had fast food and today I went to Carls Jr. and picked up food for three. One chicken sandwich, 5 piece chicken tenders, a combo meal and an extra fries. $42!! I almost drove away when I realized they weren’t pranking me 😅 That is just crazy. In & Out is the only reasonable fast food left it seems.

I take an antidepressant off label to treat a different condition. There was a problem getting my script filled and I went 5 days without it. Last night I felt so terrible I went to the emergency room about 8:30 PM and I was shocked it was jam packed. Like, standing room only. I was really surprised, I wonder why it was like that? Not even a Friday night. Is something going around I wonder? I didn’t specifically notice people coughing or sneezing or whatever but I did not stay long 😬
