#X's implementation of its latest #moderation decision, to include the term "c*sgender" in their (undoubtedly rancid) collection of swears, curses, and other nasty words, is IMO warranted, as we shouldn't allow the gradual outing of normal persons from an evermore hostile internet.

The main proponents of a successful internet should be its moderation tools. While a manually maintained list is sufficient for most usecases, with the growth and ever increasing need of an #accessible internet, we should also look for inclusion of hateful terms identified by automatic tools, such as sentence sentiment analysis, methinks.

Currently thinking I might move this account to hachyderm.io, as that server seems to be LGBTQ+-friendly, and fairly diverse in makeup.

While this account has served me well for the past few months, I'd like to consider myself sympathetic to the transgender cause, and hopefully helping such a server will get me to enjoy and understand these people more.

Good morning yet again!

Today I found out my #SmartHome thermostat hasn't been working because of an ISP outage in the area. While I am all for #NetNeutrality, this one takes the cake for me; how can people be expected to have functioning smart houses if they keep prioritising internet leeches (such as "self-hosters") over actual customers, overloading their networks?

I'm on the phone with my provider right now, the waiting times might take a while, but this is something that's gotta be said.

I've just found this website, called https://nostalebots.xyz, talking about how stale bots are annoying the author of that blogpost

I don't agree with the tone, its only vaguely making its point, and doesn't convince me with a good argument. GitHub has had stale bots for years, and why is it all of the sudden only now a problem?

#FOSS #OpenSource has multiple protections regarding this, such as CLAs, codes of conduct, and of course, the ethics of the developers themselves, I highly doubt that a specific GitHub bot would erode all of that.

So, I agree to disagree with the author.

Good morning everyone!

I'm enjoying #mastodon more and more every day. Compared to #bluesky, which only provides a limited amount of features, this instance has granular control of the algorithmic impact of my own posts, explicit opt-in read receipts, and even mini-picture reactions! (I'm still holding out for #memoji support)

The biggest social media transformation is happening in our lives right now, and we shouldn't waste it on inferior platforms who are holding out features and ignoring their principles.

I hope that this trend continues to push out industry forward into making better software, for humans!
