I finally caved in an purchased a subscription to #Nebula and now have started binge-watching Season 3 of #JetLag where they play 'tag' across Europe 🇪🇺
This is not the content I signed up for, but as a fan of #RaceAcrossTheWorld, then it sure is appealing to me.
Urgh, it pains me that so many #YouTube creators and even bigger publishers (who should know better) actually embed the subtitles on the video instead of using YouTube's subtitle feature.
Like, if you add the subtitles properly - then it keeps the source video clean, the #subtitles can be community translated, or read by a web browser as text so they can be machine translated or copied and pasted.
Embedding subtitles sucks. And if you are a content creator, plz stop. 🙃
The very first single I bought with my own cash was Country House by Blur, on cassette. 🎧
When it was released, I never had cable TV and rarely watched Top of the Pops, so just realised - after hearing the song referenced today - that I have never actually seen the music video for the song.
It's fun! And I never knew that Matt Lucas was in it too. Haha.
@matt Tangential but I know someone who recently created an account to use marketplace. Almost immediately it suggested she friend members of her estranged family who live in another country.
Every so often I’ll log in to my #Instagram account via the web browser because someone linked me to a Reel or told me they posted something to their story that I ‘must see’.
But today I downloaded all my data from #Meta and deleted the account. :pepe_cool:
Watching Monday's #Newsnight and it's great to see Sir John Curtice has been allowed to dial in from whatever dystopian robot-ruled part of the earth he's currently residing on.
@matt@ivory it's a sign of the maturing ecosystem, isn't it? most of the major apps are now feature complete compared to the website, so instead of new stuff being constantly added, there's more of polishing and refining :)
My gym had an entry system where you tap the membership card on the door to enter. You can also tap the same membership card on the locker to lock/unlock it. Simple.
But in an attempt to “modernise” the gym entry system, you need an app on your phone which shows a code to scan.
Now I need a charged phone to get in and out, and internet, and their app. And because you don't use a card to get in, they replaced all the lockers, which means you need to go buy and bring a padlock with you.
@dustin@tehstu I genuinely didn't go to the gym once because I looked at my phone and it had just a few percent left on the battery and I didn't want to get to the gym only to find I was locked in/out.
And I haven't bought a padlock for the lockers, part in protest and part laziness, so just throw my stuff in an empty locker and don't lock it and hope nobody steals it now.
