My home country, the Netherlands, finally made it to the finals of #Eurovision again, only to be disqualified due to the artist supposedly being inappropriate towards a female ESC production crew member after the Thursday semi-final that resulted in an official case at the Swedish authorities. No more details available ATM, except rumours. I wish the EBU had similar strict rules to disqualify countries that behave in inappropriate ways too.
Ah, the "We NeEd AlL tHe FaCtS" bros have arrived in the comments. #WhereIsMySurprisedFace I guess in a few minutes the first comparisons with Assange will pop up :) UPDATE: It did.
Facebook/Meta starts talking about the "Extend" phase of Embrace, Extend, Extinguish as predicted:
"“You could imagine an extension to the protocol eventually — of saying like, ‘I want to support micropayments,’ or … like, ‘hey, feel free to show me ads, if that supports you.’ Kind of like a way for you to self-label or self-opt-in. That would be great,”
UPDATE: Apple announced that they will NOT implement this change on iOS 17.4. So it wasn't the EU regulation after all, it seems. #WhereIsMySurprisedFace
Yes, #Apple will demote WebApps to bookmarks on iOS 17.4 in the EU. Yes, they claim the EU is to blame. And no, that is not true IMHO. What is right is that under the DMA (Digital Market Access) rules WebApps could become a real escape route for Apps to avoid the Apple App Store tax. So better to close that possible loophole and blame the evil EU. IMHO. Reminds me a lot of the Cookie Banner stuff. Same story. Same blame game.

Here's the relevant part from the current USB PD standard, Release 3.1, Version 1.8, page 76. A 5V/5A mode simply does not exist. If you need 25W, you have the option to use 9V with 3A.That gives you 27W. So instead of adding that option to the board, they opted for developing their own non-standard power brick. Le sigh.
Four years ago I decided to run my own single-user Mastodon instance. Because I knew that staying at a Big Instance would make me part of the relevance sword that power-drunk admins would use to pump up their ego and claim relevance. And now I see at least one admin insinuating to be a stakeholder of the fediverse and thus entitled to represent The Fediverse in seemingly secret talks with Meta. #WhereIsMySurprisedFace
There is a growing and good market for LLM (Large Language Models) trained and updated with domain-specific content. But these general purpose chatGPT style things will not be the future, IMHO. Oh, and none of that is "AI". IMHO.
