Some white Bell Heather (Erica cinerea) flowers - a ghostly departure from their usual vibrant purple. Believed by some to be a sign of good luck 🤞

I think this is a white version of a Heath spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata) - but as orchid identifications are not my strong point corrections are more than welcome 😊

A spokesperson for Greta Thunberg said Wednesday that the 20-year-old Swedish climate campaigner is one of at least two activists being charged with disobeying police orders to disperse during a protest in the southern city of Malmö last month.
The geckos in my house spend so much time licking nectar off my pitcher plants that I wonder do they even bother to catch insects anymore. #CarnivorousPlants
Another day, another bumper crop of mushrooms. Went for a solo #mtb ride this morning and spent some of it off-trail, following fungi.
Oh, and soooo many Red Efts, it's an obstacle course! At least they are appropriately colored.

Today was a really bad day for the climate morbs* in my head. But the #garden continues to delight, especially this massive #sunflower bud. I’ve got a lil cucumber, and a squash that’ll be eating size tomorrow, and a bunch of tomatoes on deck. I’ve lost a few cabbages - they were pretty tiny when I set them out, but it’s early in the fall-winter cabbage planting window here. The Brussels and purple cauliflower look great!
Last weekend, I soaked and replanted #corn and beans in a couple of spots. I noticed the first threads of green from one of the corn patches today! And the early planting of Saskatoon White corn is only knee high, but it’s already tillering and getting ready to make some tiny ears. It’s described as early, short, and dependable, so that’s probably normal! https://www.adaptiveseeds.com/product/vegetables/corn/flint-corn-saskatoon-white-organic/
I started a new garden section today. I used all the cardboard I had on hand, and three cartloads of compost, and got about 100 sf of lawn covered in no-dig. I’ll see what cover crop seeds I’ve got stashed away and think about what I could plant for fall-winter food. Mostly, I’m hopeful that the flock will go scratch in this compost and quit flinging the potato bed compost everywhere!
