Can't transfer companion eggs from creatures adopted out in the wild - Omega Expedition (lemmy.world)

Note: This is NOT the rewards eggs. These three eggs are from critters that I found out in the wild, fed, petted and looked after until they were ready to drop an egg. Only it’s not letting me transfer any companion eggs, regardless of the source....

I'm playing in on a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 and... it is struggling!

It's running on a Razer Blade laptop I bought second hand to experience with PCVR and computer graphics, but I'm still a Mac user for work. This makes me reluctant to buy a powerful new PC as it feels rather excessive just for gaming... uh, on this particular game...!

I was thinking of getting an eGPU, but the cost is also pretty high once you throw in a Razer Core X or similar casing 🤔 Thoughts?

@mountdiscovery It sounds like there's really no way of getting around just replacing the Razer Blade. I'll check out the ASUS ROG Zephyrus, although I don't actually need a laptop so I might do better with a desktop for money... Thank you for the recommendation!

@mountdiscovery A Google just taught me that a PS5 + PSVR would actually be cheaper than a new PC, so I could buy that as a second headset in addition to my Meta Quest 3 for less money, and focus on gaming for the PS and other VR-apps for the Meta Quest 3.

That's a really interesting idea, and I hadn't considered that! I think there's probably enough PCVR stuff I'd like to still prefer a capable PC, but that was a whole new idea... thanks!

I made it to the "Anomaly" in No Man's Sky ! With my GPU struggling, I tried out PlutoSphere, which lets you run PC games on a cloud gaming computer.

But disaster struck!

Once my tokens for PlutoSphere were exhausted, the machine automatically shutdown and booted me out. This was expected BUT I assumed the save would be automatically uploaded to the cloud. It was not 😱 . Apparently, upload timing is erratic, so you have to manually push the upload when using PlutoSphere. SIGH.

(In case anyone was wondering what I did about this loss of game data: I sucked it up and repeated the--fortunately just 1 hour--session on my struggling but brave laptop. But randomises basically... everything... so I ended up having to complete my quest on a way rougher planet where I was hunted down by evil senitels, which was difficult as I am NEW and WEAK. But. Success. Here is a image of my friend lounging on my spacecraft's wing. I took off and he fell off 🤣)

I've fallen into "No Man's Sky"! I made it to the space station, and have selected an avatar that truly resembles what I look like... on the inside.

I now have a glowing ball for a head, which seems to be held in place by rotating electromagnets. Magnificent!

was created for PC but the adaption (which I'm playing) is not at all bad. It's really... quite... addictive. I played for 4 hours and I'm eying my battery and wondering if I could hop on for a few minutes... before... bed...

Coming in... upside down... because I'm a terrible flier and planets can appear above you in space.

We set off to find a new planet to build neighbouring bases in . No Man's Sky actually generates planets procedurally, giving a near limitless number of permutations. A large number were thus summarily dismissed due to not really feeling the grass colour...

As I'm a newbie with poor equipment and poorer shooting skills (I will note that's a bit of an issue in ), my more understandable vote was for a planet low in hazards such as radiation, storms and rampaging sentinels.

Maybe... here!

Planet at night where you can see the planet rings in the sky.

🚀 I made it just in time and got my first S-Class ship! - Also my first real starship after the starter shipwreck. Just finished the Cartographer Redux event in No Man's Sky and really enjoyed it 🤩

The expedition was like a long and rewarding tutorial mission, I have learned a lot. I tried the game a few years ago but bounced off for some reason. Gave it another try and now I can't stop exploring. Such a beautiful game.

"Discover. Harvest. Know."

Screenshot from the game No Man's Sky: the alien-like player character has big eyes, two horns and a heavy, big body type in a purple space suit. A large yellow symbol in the middle of the screen marks the achievement "Expedition complete" Expedition #3 Redux Cartographers - Reward: Golden Vector starship.
Screenshot from the game No Man's Sky: a small, round starship (just the size for one person) taking off from an peach-colored ocean in front of a pastell turquoise sky with some mountains in the background.

Is the cartographer expedition worth trying for a newbie?

I'm still pretty new to the game. I've tried two of the expeditions—Utopia this month and I believe Singularity earlier this year—but didn't make it very far through either (via a combination of not starting them early enough and, for Singularity, barely knowing how to play the game). I don't have a lot of time over the...

Light No Fire Announcement Trailer (youtu.be)

Light No Fire looks incredible, while I trust Hello Games have learned not to overhype their game too hard. I’m going to remain rationally optimistic. I do very much want this to be an incredible game, but ive been stung by the hypetrain too much to know to never be excited by a trailer....
