As I can now display shortcuts depending on the program context, I decided to write a post about it: https://ko-fi.com/post/Program-Context-Driven-Shortcut-Overlays-M4M5Y8AUX

@thpoll hi there !
Big question. I dont even know if this can be possible or something this keyboard will be able to handle.
I work in my mac station with a remote connection to a windows pc, so far the biggest headache is that i cannot configure my macros for the windows PC since the program I use is in my computer. Would there be a way to configure macros of different systems ? 🤔

thpoll,
@thpoll@mastodon.social avatar

@dahnna What exactly are/do your macros? I would expect the HID protocol to work with the remote system...

color theory – changing the backdrop alone really impacts how colors are perceived

@JLW_the_Jobber looks amazing

@Wyatt wait till you see the final product. Took me awhile to sort out all the keycaps.

Currently taking a break, then I will flash the board and post some pics and the layout.

And this review is finally out! Here are my thoughts on the NuPhy Air 96 v2! I thought it would be interesting for someone who isn’t a big person to take a look at one, let me know what you think!

@countablenewt Great review for sure! We definitely need more content like this on our blog.

Complete impulse buy, but LOOK HOW CUTE 🤓

Yes, that is a cat-ear LED diffuser on the back 😅 (thankfully it's removable)

I thought I had gotten over the #MechanicalKeyboard bug, but clearly not!

Very excited for this to arrive, and then will get the whole family together for a photo! If you're a real keeb nerd like me and want the specs they're here: https://cannonkeys.com/products/chillkey-paw65-assembled-edition

But of course I will mod it immediately, thinking Alpaca or Gat Yellow switches 👀

Sad to see that the NovelKeys DSA Galactic Empire Keycap set will not be restocked. The one Star Wars Keycap set that was popular and actually sold is to be limited to just one run. Looks like I will have to look into Etsy sellers that do custom keyboards to get my Aurebesh setup. #MechanicalKeyboards #StarWars

@AAMfP wow 🤩 this is exactly what I needed. It comes with my ErgoDox keyboard setup thanks so much!!!

@zolotkey
Glad to help: it's been months I'm carving my best set... and still in progress.

New deskmat.

7oid,

@TT_392 what’s the name of the split keyboard? Looks nice.

TT_392,
@TT_392@fosstodon.org avatar

@7oid
It is my own creation.

I really need to fix the github repo I have for the PCB and case design though.

I am looking for a TKL pcb with hot swapable capabilities and a nice low profile case to go along with it and a nice keycap set for lowprofile switch What do you guys recommend
Preferably the PCB should connect with USB-C or have wireless connection

looopTools,
@looopTools@mastodon.social avatar

@AAMfP Okay this is awesome!... But I guess I should have mentioned that it has to be a none split keyboard :D

AAMfP,
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

@looopTools
Woops, sorry.
Then YMDKey should be fine as well: they have nice keyboards.
Or you can go to a classic Keychron or take a look at the world: https://kbd.news/vendors

My KMK hand-wire builds.

  1. "Plank+3" 50 key ortholinear.
  2. Macropad from Thingiverse.
  3. "Staggerwing" 56 key fixed-wire split ortho.
  4. "RetroH" retro-inspired TKL-like, build 1/3.
  5. RetroH build 2/3.
  6. "N3 v1", No stabilizers, navigation arrows, Numpad.
  7. RetroH build 3/3
  8. "N3 v2" revised with adjusted layout and 3D-printed side case.
  9. Laser-cut no-stabilizers numpad.

@wjrii Those look fantastic! Is one of them a daily driver?

Had this aluminum plate laser cut a few months back and hand-wired it with Box Navies and a RPi Pico, and oiled oak for the sides. I missed my numpad, though, so I used my own laser cutter and made an external one from Masonite and textured spraypaint.

RustyNova,

Left side numpad? That’s unusual

wjrii,
wjrii avatar

@RustyNova

I’m not sure where it will live long term, but “southpaw” numpads are definitely a thing. They allow for mousing while doing data entry, and they mitigate one of the reasons some people do without numpads by allowing the shoulders to stay more neutral when the mouse is close to the right edge of the keyboard.

New keyboard who dis?

xro,
@xro@chaos.social avatar

I did it ... 😊 I could not leave it be...
I ordered custom printed from WASD for my customized showing the full layout. 😅 Plus the keyboards first FN-layer.

They arrived .. today 😀 and they are beautiful. Came out much nicer and less chaotic than I feared. Even though , chaosknot and fairydust-rocket are part of the design 😁

On top of that, I added o-rings for a softer key-press bottom-out.

keycap design, remix at will: https://github.com/btittelbach/custom_printed_keycaps/tree/main

The photo shows a angled closeup of xro's custom Chrumm Keyboard with newly added custom printed keycaps. The chaos knot is used as symbol for "Alt" and fairy-dust is used as symbol for "Enter" while a gamecontroller is used as symbol for "Ctrl"
