Anyone thinking Canada is a bastion of common sense, NO. We have the same “Conservative” tactics up here foisting Nazi/Fascist bs on us. They don’t have any ideas/policies that help make life better for Canadians, so they amplify anger issues by picking on a vulnerable minority (LBGTQ, Women, Children, immigrants, vaccines, etc) and endlessly stage public protests. They wave flags, have convoys, yell at school children, yell at doctors, nurses… This is a global plot run from a central core.
@nuncio They’re mobsters seeking to divide up territories for their personal gain. When they get greedy and start treading on another mobsters turf, that’s when the WW’s start. Think of how gangs work on the small level. Fascism is just the corruption taken to the highest level . People think being involved with the biggest bad guy is their ticket to the good life and all the unearned wealth they can acquire from being close to power.

You‘d think that would make them easy to fight but since we all treat it like our local problem and don’t organize equally, it’s a losing battle against a foe that is pretty well organized … most likely by russian efforts.
Not the idiots ob the streets, yelling at kids, they‘re just pawns getting moved around by propaganda, but the conservative parties spurning them on, pulling their strings. These we need to get rid of, everywhere, urgently.
We have a war, a climate catastrophe and a coming refugee crisis on our hands, we don’t have time to fight fascists over years to come. This will be a brutal shitshow if we don’t organize properly in the same way they get organized.
@orangelantern Also note: If WE protest valid issues: Human Rights, Police Brutality, Climate crisis, Corruption… the police gas us and beat us and call it a riot: (“Protest turned violent”). These weirdo idiots get out there and are treated as if they have serious complaints, genuine concerns. Nobody gasses them. Media never notices that distinction.

@BlippyTheWonderSlug@Catawu I still remember being on a train pulling into Toronto while listening to the CBC the day after Parliament passed thr marriage act, and them saying that there was a gay-bashibg in Alberta allegedly as a response to it. Between that and the tar sands I've always thought of the province as Canadian Texas.
I also remember how the Canadian border cops were rude to and hyperfocused on two Asian-looking men in my car at Niagara Falls.
