A3. Two main things grind my gears. People who don’t understand a lot of younger hams don’t have space for antennas so it’s very compromise antennas with digital modes or nothing, and the hobby is not great at self promotion. 3 years ago I didn’t see the point of it and why on earth would someone use morse code?

@vk3xe i do a lot trying to interest kids in the hobby, and (surprisingly!) I found that Morse Code is the top appeal for those in middle school and below (here in the US -- kids younger than 14, typically). I personally do a lot of Morse Code for the challenge and it's done wonders for my ability to learn languages, too. (not required at all, of course... just fun!).

@ai6yr oh since I’ve got my licence and got in to SOTA I very much get it, just sharing what I thought as someone who knew about amateur radio but didn’t see the point of it

@vk3xe I definitely was among the youngest learning Morse Code, in my 40's when I started ham radio, only a few years ago.
