@Rana@hannu_ikonen I know I'm not who you were asking specifically, but I can probably still give some tips:
boost posts calling out racism (e.g. OP), and also positive posts about experiences of POC. No need to reply unless someone's asking for the opinion of white people (or unless it's directed at you, in which case an apology or thanks might be appropriate)
vet your followers to ensure boosting these posts doesn't lead to harassment. This is a skill you'll need to practice...
@Rana ...over time, because as someone who doesn't experience it, it's not always easy to spot the red flags. If you catch any of your followers saying anything racist, block them right away. You can call them out if you feel the need to.
if you see racism in a POC's replies, do not tag the POC in a response if you respond at all. It's possible they've already blocked this person, and they may not want a reminder. And something better than a reply is usually a forwarded report.
@Rana and for clarification, by "forwarded report" I mean "report them for racism to your server, and check the box so it forwards to their server admins as well". Depending on the nature of the offense and how often they do it, it might be appropriate to follow up and make sure they're dealt with so you can make a fediblock post. If you notice a server isn't acting on obvious racism that's been reported, blocking is a good idea (and calling them out if you're able).
@Rana obviously there are more ways to help in person but that's a more complicated situation for me so I'm not sure how to give advice on it, because I am pretty sure our lives in person are more different than online. The one thing I can say is if you see a white person being racist, say something about it if you can. To them, or to a figure of authority--but absolutely not the cops. And listen to POC on what needs to be called out! This is important. Don't ask. Just listen.
@hannu_ikonen Been doing my part questioning, calling out, and also, too, shutting up when the often more eloquent smart Black, and othered people make their points. Learn, boost, be fcking humble.

A COWORKER COMPLAINED THAT I WAS BEING AGGRESSIVE AND HOSTILE BECAUSE I REFERRED TO SOMEONE AS “KAREN” IN A GROUP DM. Completely ignoring the fact that one of the people on the chat is named Karen.
When I explained the absurdity of her accusation… I was advised that I should explain myself to everyone that misunderstood WTF?
