It actively offends me though that there's no way to look at a YouTube short and get the date it was posted. If anyone ever uses YouTube shorts for political content that's going to lead to horrific disinformation once people start resharing 2-year-old news articles at particular moments when the temporal context changes their perceived meaning totally
@mcc not sure if this depends on your platform, but on my Android I can see when a short was posted by clicking the three dots menu followed by "description" in the menu that pops up
"Completely shocking that Joe Biden is celebrating and kissing puppies at his birthday party [links YouTube Short they just saw come up in their feed] in the immediate aftermath of the November 17 attacks"
@mcc Orwell 1984 analogies are much beloved of the "dissident right" and other such gremlins these days but I have to say, "deliberately remove the date from stuff so that people don't know they're looking at 'old content'" is one of the current era tech platform trends I find most crazy-making and orwellian.
@mcc oh don't fret too much, we all know Shorts will change in 70 different ways (up to and possibly including being retired) over the next few years anyway!
@xot@PsySal don't worry, YouTube shorts is the opposite of a Skinner box. The moment you scroll it's more like a machine that delivers electric shocks to train you out of using a scroll wheel
